I'm sure you're all already aware of this but for those of us out of the 3 year VW warranty and haven't renewed or repaced it, if you take out AA cover (any level) you can also take out their parts and labour cover which covers electrical and mechanical faults up to £500 pe claim (5 claims a year I think).
YOu have to call them out if you've broken down and if/when they can't fix it at the roadside they'll pay for the repair. Cover is £69

I've had this for the last year ... haven't had the need to use it. But it seems pretty good value if they don't trick you with the small print. Spent ages trying to clarify what their definition of a fault was and if they would honour air conditioning problems - the compressor is covered but not anything else and apparantly as long as you call the AA out they will honour this. I would feel a bit daft calling the AA out because my ac had stopped working but if thats what it takes ...

I agree - I am more concerned with maybe the fly wheel or turbo going pop but as you say, if it#s covered then call them out!
