I've finally become the proud owner of a '91 MKII 8v; I've wanted one since passing my test 13 years ago.
I found a good example with 140k but with a full VAG history and a mint interior. It has PAS and EW and the Helios blue exterior has no rust and is completely undamaged. I managed to get the price down to sub ?1400 but it will a need a couple of hundred spending on new battery, pads etc.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who can advise me on and affordable mods to improve security, handling etc.

the first cheap mod for security i reckon is a set of armour door plates, stops the entry being so easy, and belive me it is. Window film stops smash n grabbers, get a induction kit, theyre not that great on performance but do give it a throaty roar. Look at getting some fast road cems from piper.

Hello
I agree with stew8vmk2golf about buying the amour door plates do it asap and buy the best you can afford C&R sell very good ones about ?35 for the pair. They are very easy to fit so do it soon.

had mine broken into before i could fit the plates, as the damage wasn't too bad i figured i would leave it so they didnt do any more damage next time (there wasn't even anything in the car, at least they had the decency to shut the door after them)
p.s. John Peel suggests leaving a dirty pair of pants on your seat, i will monitor the success of this method.

Good call on the door plates, if you dont have these ther is a very easy method of getting into a golf, wont tell you how if you dont already know... As for the handling, Lower it and get a front strut, no need for a rear strut, good enough as it is... That seemd to have worked a treat on mine but mine is a MK1....
