I know this type of thing will not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me as I am looking for some more power on my new car it is one more part towards the puzzle that is a perfect Mk6 GTI.
I previous had an ITG intake on my Mk5 Edition 30 and was really please with the results it produced, so when the opportunity came up today to get a first version of a development kit I though it would be rude not to try it.
I took some time out to do some logging on mine (which is just running a Revo Stage 1 remaps so far) this morning before having the kit installed and the peak airflow I was recording was 197g/s at the MAF. After the kit was installed by Andy @ ITG I repeated the logging and found a pleasing increase of 16g/s which based on the VCDS "butt-dyno" calculation is giving an increase of around 20bhp
Some more improvements are expected with some further changes to the scope and the connections on the remaining parts of the standard intake pipe and turbo connections.
So far the kit replaces the standard airbox/filter and joins to the MAF housing with a short section of silcon. Should be available within a few weeks all being well.
Here are some quick pic's: -

stevep, how does your mk 6 compare to your ed 30 performance wise. my ed 30 is now 3 yrs old and am looking at replacing it soon but not sure what with. did have a test in a focus rs but couldn't live with the rock hard ride every day.

That filter looks a beast.
I know the REVO guys (sorry snoopy!) really rated the ITG on the mk5 and on their K1 so I've no doubts that your VCDS figures won't be far off, these filters work a lot better on the open road/track than on a static dyno so the 20bhp may not be replicated on a rolling road maybe(?) but it's on the real road where it all comes together.
Any ideas of projected price Steve?
Do you notice quicker turbo spool with the filter?

How come your engine bay is so dirty ? :undecided:
-
I think I can answer that for him.
a) it's winter
b) Steve does a lot of miles
-
I had noticed it was winter, there is not a mark in my engine bay and i`ve had mine 7 months. :undecided:
-
I've had mine since about September and haven't lifted the bonnet since November so can't comment any further....
-
Must of been driving with the bonnet up
-
Heres a good question i had forgot about. Does the mk6 have the rubber seal on the front of the bonnet all the way across like the early mk5 did but later ones did not?
-
Just been out to check mine now.
Yes Snoopy, it does have a seal to cover the gap above the central grille and another one over each headlight.
And simonpolly, my engine bay is also pretty clean. 8000 miles and just done a round trip of 380 miles over the last few days in some pretty grotty weather.

Perhaps he has been working on it in the rain,or getting over excited with the pressure washer and snow foam  :undecided:
