Title: Hello there, new member checking in
Post by: jonnywombat on 19 February 2010, 19:36
Hi I'm jonny and I have just taken ownership of my first golf GTi.

I have just bought a mk3 8v anniversary in silver. It's a high miler (144k ) but to date it seems to run well. It had extensive work done prior to my buying it, with pretty much all new suspension and brakes in all 4 corners, the body work has been touched up (although a little blowing in needed to finish). I know when the suspension was rebuilt the guy didn't get the alignment professionally checked, and atm it handles a little oddly. However it is booked in next week to have 4 wheel alignment check and adjustment.

The interior is all good, apart from worn steering wheel and drivers seat bolsters. May see if I can track down covers to re trim seats.
The bbs alloys are in good nick, but they are the only non standard part, having had them powered coated in gun metal with a metal fleck, rather than the original colour. I'm sure the purists out there will be tutting, but i think they look good.

I have had a browse of the forum, and there seems to be loads of useful information,

Look for to meeting you all.
