Search it if you like but it's a complete nightmare to do, much better starting with a 16v as you need to change nearly everything, not just the engine! I think it might be easier with a K-jet 8v but not 100% sure. Still just not worth the time money or hassle tbh

would be easier to VR6 it, as long as yours is the Digi engine (being a G plate it would be)

For the time, money and hassel, why not put a 2.0 litre bottom end in, clean up/re-build your cylinder head, upgrade the camshaft to 267 degree cam, improve the induction and exhuast system, would cost about the same and you could see simular bhp to the 16v engine with more tourque.

A few people have done this on this forum, and there's a lot of information out there on the internet just waiting to be used.

I'm in the process of sorting my 8v out and am still tempted to up the power, but I have also gone and got a 16v now so I'll see how I feel. :)

Sell up and buy a 16v or make the 8v better.

just why is so much hasstel,    skip the nasty k jet part and go straight in with the 2.0 ABF.  no more effort to fit to an 8v gti than it is to fit to a 16v gti.

abf. the end.  i wasted alot of money on my previous 2.0 8v.  bigger valves, cam.
i put in a totally standard abf, and it pi$$es over the 8v in every way, in every scenario.  all you need is a lightened flywheel and your away.
everything bolts up that needs to. 3 plugs on the fusebox.  its really that simple
