Just thought one or two of you may want to see these.

are those 18's they look massive?
sweeet i like it though anybody do a photochop of a black 3-door mk5 with these wheel for me haha
-
Yes they are 18'' Monza Detroit Alloy Wheels as fitted to euro spec edition 30 mk5 Golf GTI's and and an option from uk dealer as a spare part.
-
One of the very few moments that I find black Monza alloys absolutely stunning....what a nice combo here...
-
Maybe I am wrong but the photo showing the rear seems to show LED lights. Yeah nice alloys. Wouldn't have them personally though
-
Personally I'm not too keen, too much black.
I know many of you hate the 18" silver monzas but I love them against the black of my car. That said, it is sitting below a coat of the white stuff at present and I don't mean milk!!
Rolfe reckons she smells Spring!! I wish! no sign of it here. Oh well guess I'd better go shovel.

You saw leds.....Deutschland vielleicht
-
I like it, but the 2 blacks don't match.
I think it should go back to the dealer for a warranty repair as the suspension has collapsed
-

Yes it is Germany and its a very popular modification to fit the R LED rear lights over there. It is also a popular option to have the GTI LEDs from the factory but they seem a much lighter colour than the ones shown on this GTI.
-
Look.
I thought we'd covered this in detail before.
Black wheels are just wrong - unless you're less than 20 and your name is Daz.
-
I like that a lot. Don't know if i could live with it everyday but it sure suits it
-
Looks awful

Agreed. They have actually managed to make Monzas even uglier!

You really don't like people criticising Monzas, do you! Sore point, is it? I suspect deep down you know damn well they are the fugliest wheels ever designed, but just won't admit it.

I still do not have a confirmation that the LEDS on the GTI differ from the LEDS on the R...the (only) difference would be a shade darker on the R.... :undecided:

Love the Detroits and the LEDs but hate the ride height.
Don't they have potholes or speed humps in Germany?
-
Too much black going on there for my liking...
Has someone thrown a snow ball at a salesman and missed him, hitting the car above the offside front wheel arch btw??

Nothing like the ones we have over here... Germany highways are like silk compared to GB

he's more quoted than Shakespeare. All we know, is he's callled VWKev".

I really, REALLY, REAAALLLLYYY dislike the silver lip in these alloys. It makes the paint job look unfinished.
-
^^^^ - the silver lip was the only part i liked!

ETTO. Looks bodge and it reminds me of mid-90's spec Japanese car wheels.
Either have silver wheels, or black wheels that are finished.

I was over in England for a few days last week and was amazed by some of the potholes I came across. Some of them needed a 4x4 to get out of  I know we've all just had a $hitty winter and all, but wow, some local councils really need to pull their fingers out. I was just grateful I was in my Transit van and not the GTI with its fragile alloys!

They have filled alot of the ones near me. This mainly consisted of dumping a load of tar in them.... lasted a whole 3wks before they start to ruin the rest of the road also :undecided:

Digging this thread up again because I came across this earlier:

No apologies to the Monza haters on here.
-
actually i like that for some reason and i hate black wheels and not a great monza fan. Maybe i inhailed toomuch cement dust doing the garage floor
-
Depends whether your garage is also used as a cocaine store and you get the off spillage now and again?
Main reason that looks good (apart from the rims) is that it has just the right drop and the wheels have a bit better offset than genuine ones (these are 45mm on an 8 inch wide rim) which sits them nicely in the arches. :nerd:
-
Looks like a Black Mariah mini hearse!
-
Is a bit...uhhh....."Gypsy Design"

I suppose the black wheels absorb more heat, heat the tyres more quickly, the car gets better grip, the car gets away from all of us more quickly, saves us from seeing how REVOlting it looks and then serves a dual purpose as a hearse or a getaway car for criminals!
