Title: Electric Window Problem- 97 Mk3
Post by: wheelrefurb on 31 July 2003, 18:00
My front drivers side window has stopped working. A previous owner fitted a new motor not so long ago so I don't think it is much (fingers crossed). Trouble is that according to the Haynes manual to get to the motor I need to remove the glass and to remove the glass I need to lower the window!

Any ideas on what I can do and also any experience on common problems worth checking with the window mechanism would be appreciated.

I can hear a relay trip in the motor when the button is pressed on the switch. I'm guessing that it is either adjustment to the window meaning the motor can't move it at the moment, or another fault with the motor itself. Incedently it did start working shortly the other day but has failed since, which would suggest that the motor is OK.

Thanks
Andrew

Check for broken wires in the rubber boot between the door and the body. Try to pull the wires apart to check them, not always easy to find, good luck. Steve.

Was a new regulator fitted when the motor was done? Worth a look.
