Hi guys
came home from work and was just turning up my road in my GF's car when i saw my GTI at the bottom of the road.
I jumped out and ran accross the road but the scally saw me and spead off. A silver A3 was close behind so i think that was the other part of the team.
They had broken my house door and searched for the keys, the fookers also took both my HDTV's and my laptop.
Keep your eye our for a black 3 door, 17" alloys with a private plate ending DPG
My GTI ownership was short (6months) and i think i'll end up getting something a little less desirable next (unless the police find my car)

:(
sorry to hear that mate

That's bloody awful pal. Might be worth flyering a few houses to see if anyone has any security cameras and get the plate of the a3 or something.
-
Gutted for you mate, must be a horrible feeling I hope I never have to go through!
A3 was probably stolen on dodgy plates no doubt.
Certainly a desirable car for thieving scumbag's at the moment, seems like one a week

Well, the GTI was found in Bradford (Cloned with a 57 plate from Manchester). I went over to SOS to hand over the spare key.
It looked like it had been involved in a few other incidents as there were holes in the boot - like someone had been at it with an pickaxe
Luckily my insurance (Highway) paid out after 6 days.
The Police found forensic evidence in my car and know the scumbag who was in it (surname Hindle for those in Bradford)
The police have charged him but it seems like he'll just get done for handling stolen goods
He is wanted for burglries in Leeds too so hopefully the police can get him for those.
-
they should chop their hands off if caught. hope you get it back. kevin
-
its a shame those pick axe holes arn't in his head
It makes me sick!!! He'll probably get a slap on the wrist
-
Should be shot. Dead.
Simple.
-
good to know atleast they caught him!
-
Glad to hear you got it back mate!
Looking at a piece of kit in Makro at the moment, its a gps tracking kit for £130.
It can be used at any point and it will text you the precise location of your car whenever and wherever >.<

Do you have a link to that bud?
-
Cant link it I'm afraid as the Makro website does not let you search for products etc.
I have a Makro around the corner from me, had a look and I have to admit it looks like a solid bit of kit to have, do you have a makro near you at all?
I know its on one of the mails they send out so I'll keep looking
-
I dont think so. Not that I know of. Will have a look though
-
Fair enough mate well you need a makro members card to get in, I don't mind going to my local and getting some pictures/info and sending it to you in a PM matey?
Can probably get over there tomorrow and hope some are in stock!
-
If anyone is interested, google have a service called google latitude.
It is a real-time location based system, so you can see where you (or your car is) at any given moment.
Even better is an addon service they do called 'Location history'. It logs where you are every 5/10 minutes or so forever! Its all searchable and filterable so it may be worth your time.
You need a windows mobile phone or an android phone and a dataplan. Just for reference, im with o2 and my complete package (including unlimited net access) works out at around something like £6 a month.

max, does that only track the phone then? ie would you have to leave it in the car? Or do you have a seperate transmitter?
Radz, that would be good if you could. Just seen that there is a makro in Birmingham. I would be interested in knowing more about the system.
Cheers, Nick

This system looks very good for the money
http://www.roadhawk.co.uk/roadhawk-RH-1.htm
There was a thread on Piston Heads where the owner of a Monaro busted some garage monkey's who took it for a blast down the motorway when it was in for servicing
It was all recorded on that device!!
-
yes you would have to leave the phone in the car!

This really happened to me.

thats mad they stole both your mk6's ?

Yep. The b******s did. Massive complacency on my part the second time. You don't think lightening will strike twice do you. The second time they smashed their way unto the house. It's all in the article. Kids were in bed, wife, the lot. She reckons she heard them, but thought it was our little un banging on his cot.
They used a lock snapper. Broke in through our conservatory doors, then the outside patio doors, two sets of locks. Took my keys that were in the back of the front door lock. They must have been laughing their heads off. The first time they broke in, they took nothing else if value to be honest, the second time, they took my fooking MacBook.
Consequently, the wife would not let me buy another. Albeit, I'm tempted, now the Mk6's been around for a while now.
It really is totally unbelievable. You don't ever think something like this is going to happen to you. Now, I face the next 4 to 5 years of continually paying each time I insure a car, I'll gave to declare the two whopping claims. Perpectually fined. Arrrghh!!!
-
have you been paid out ?
-
When mine was taken in the summer it took just over 4 weeks for the insurance pay out.I was expecting months.
