Post by: Evoss on 15 February 2010, 19:36
Hey Guys, dint see any guide so am picking some brains here.

Is it possible to put an AUX/USB input into the back of the headunit? I want some music from my iPhone

Thanks for any help

Not really willing to fork out £150 for a little hole in my car.

Are there any DIY guides you know of ?

I'd be interested in the answer to this as well, for my iPhone.
Does it charge the iPod/iPhone at the same time, through the aux port, or is that only for music input? If so, how would you charge the iPod/iPhone at the same time?

AUX input wont charge the iPhone. AUX is turning your car into a massive pair of ear phones to make it simple.

If I get an AUX sorted ill get a charger for the lighter socket and plug that into my iPhone.

I brought a connects2, about £25 if I can remember correctly. It plugs into the back of the head unit, via the CD changer port, then you feed a 3.5mm head phone jack to the front (I used one of the blank tabs next to the ESP and tyre pressure buttons.

Anyway for some reason mine isn't working, ive been speaking to a guy on here as to why it won’t work, as he has the same thing and it works fine on his. I’m thinking that the RCD300 won’t support it as the guy im speaking to has the head unit with chrome volume dials?

Any thoughts as to why mine might not be working?

Sorry for stealing this thread by the way.

I just had a look at the back of my old RCD300 and there isn't a straight Aux in only a CD in, I don't know if simply putting audio on the CD input  in will work without fooling the unit into thinking a CD changer is attached. (mind you looking at your pic it seems that a CD changer is already installed)

The connector itself is the same size as a PC floppy interface connector, I connected my MFD2 this way, however the MFD2 has an aux in.

Earlier GTIs like mine did not come with a Aux in under the arm rest.

To slightly add to the question being asked, if I have a six cd changer, can I use this AND still use the CD changer?

Sorry, to just complete that last post, I was thinking about using one of the adaptors that are for sale on the net such as http://www.awesomeautomotive.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=50_69&products_id=709

Anyone know if I use fit this if I can still use the cd changer and an MP3 player (although not at the same time, obviously)
