Title: Greenlight insurance, great price for the gti
Post by: funkythumbs42 on 15 February 2010, 12:03
I am 24 and will have 4nycb and no point on licence, car parked on street

insurance from the usual suspects (admiral, swift cover) was going to be around 800 quid

went to greenlight and they have came back with £440 and only £250 excess

Just thought that was a brilliant price, could not beleive it!!

x2 v happy with greenlight

they seem to like young drivers

when i bought my ed30 a couple of years ago I was 24, 4yrs no claim, parked on the street, 6pts on the licence and car remapped to 320hp

Directline - £1400
Greenlight - £590

almost fell of my chair when I got Greenlights quote

maybe its good business, offer cheap prices to relatively young drivers who have ncb proving they are safe and get years of business from us.

great quotes!!

Unfortunately depending on your area, Greenlight may decline to give you a quote.

My area is meant to be bad for car insurance yet they gave me the most competitive quote last year aswell. Not so much this year but thats more my fault than theirs.

Just got a quote from them at £442.70. Im 24 with 5 years no claims, one accident which wasn't my fault, one windscreen chip claim, and one speeding fine (which i think has been gets taken off my record what with it being so many years ago?) The cars also kept on the street, and i havent added my mum as a named driver which drops the price with all the other insurance people.

Proper impressed, just have to wait till April when my insurance is due for renewal and i then turn 25, which i think means the insruance will be even cheaper still?

Motor insurance is a funny one. Don't forget that insurers will look down to the second part of your postcode (ie for L30 8UH they're not just looking at the L30 bit they're looking at the 8UH bit as well) - not my real postcode by the way.

There are so many factors that affect the cost. Occupation is a big one after age, ncb, and annual mileage.

A couple of SP30s probably won't have that much effect, but if you have an IN10 (no insurance) you might really struggle to get a competitive quote.

Greenlight are a bunch of enthusiasts - They specialise in modified cars and understand what various mods are and what they do. They insure like-for-like. But they are in the insurance business and if you live in a higher risk postcode it's reasonable for them to take that into account.

I'm very happy with them.

Im in a very low risk area though - very low crime rate etc. Even though I always put the car in the garage, they were still a little more expensive for me. They also put me at £500 excess!!
AXA was over £100 cheaper, with only £250 excess.
Guess they are not cheap for everyone!

25, 2 years ncb, driving 2 years.

Last year my insurance was £2.4k with quickfit,  they sent me my renewal the other day and it was £3.3k !

So i went on the usual price comparison sites and the cheapest was quickfit at £1.8k with most been £3kish.

I then deceided to do a quote with greenlight and to my suprise it was £770  i nearly fell off my chair, so this morning I bought the insurance and
am well chuffed

I have just renewed my insurance with Greenlight - I couldn't be happier with them - I've updated my long list of mods and my power to 260 bhp and there is no change to the costs. It makes such a difference to know they know what various car mods are.
