I have been talking to a few Paint Protection Companies.
What I have so far gathered is:-
(1) Non-metallic Red and Metallic Silver are the easiest to treat.
(2) Black (metallic or non-metallic) and white are the most difficult to treat.
Any views?

Yes. Get the colour you like! Can't live your life worrying about paint, enjoy the drive!

Boatmart have just done a write up on ‘Glaze’ Boats that were given a coat of this product last season were revisited for the current issue of Boatmart. Boats with Glaze on it are still sparkling. British Airways have also started using it as it past their quality tests.
I have ordered marine glaze and also car glaze and will give my Pearl Black GTI a couple of coats when it arrives.

May I ask how much these cost?
-
Glaze Surface Sealant is £24.99 for 110ml

Maybe the colour RED is very easy to treat but I reckon it better should be since that colour is the most vulnerable of all......after say 4 years getting a door sprayed they better spray the whole damn car....cause the results can be horrifying....
Do not get me wrong I love the sun especially right now but for humans it can be a blessing but for materials it does often more wrong than right...
-
Buy a red car and end up with a pink one!
However, it is easier with respect to the application of the protection process I am told.
Best Paint Protection Company, in my opinion, is Toughseal which uses nano technology.
Glaze is good, but is old tecnology developed in the USA a few decades ago.
I am buying a red car!
I will Toughseal it.

I've been looking into paint sealant and been recommended to Zaino

Out of interest guys how much do they charge for this "protection" & how long is it guaranteed for?
A decent wax like Collinite might well be just as effective
-
This is 'protection' as in a sealant?
Not proper mechanical protection, as in Defendall, Venture Shield etc?
Not the clear film coating that stops stone chips etc?

You are correct.
Seen Venture Shield etc (all 3M products I am told) on cars and the paint surface looks very strange.
Edges can turn slightly yellow after sometime. This is especially visible on white cars.

I would have to dissagree on the finish...I had it on a car from new (5 years) and when polished up with decent products, you couldn't tell if it was paint or Defendall film.
And after 5 years of hard driving...no stonechips...only a couple of small nicks in the film on the lower spoiler.
You could see an edge though, where the film stopped part way up the panels, as you'd get a line of polish/wax highlighting it.
Can't comment on the yellowing...as it was on a yellow car!

I like bananas.
Eating them, not driving them!
Just kidding!

So do I...
But banana skins aren't as good at protecting from stone chips as paint film!
Driving the 'right' banana can be fun too...just not a colour for the shy, retiring types.

I am not 100 percent shure now if you are a male....
Anyway I like RED and YELLOW but only on sportcars so a GTI is okay in my book...
I had the Alfa 33 in RED and it was a teriffic Ferrari-like colour never stopped to amaze me...especially on rainy days

Sex on the brain, again, I think?! This is the third time!

It has to be on your brain as well if you think about an association....so you are most certain a male
Anyway, I wonder if sunlight-influence is the main criterium or if there is more to it...I do know for a fact that gloss paint is tougher then matt...but if we talk different colours I wonder how e.g. carbon grey comes out of it.

You are so right!
Takes one to know one!
I will find out for you regarding carbon grey.
From what I remember, it was very easy to protect being between silver and black but much, much closer to silver.

OMG I do hope you are wrong so females do recognise you as male as well...and stop kissing me....you confuse me...
On topic again, thanks for checking my colour out....BTW I see that with a bit of luck we get our new car nearly simultaneuosly

WTF is going on?
Is this a gay dating site?
No doubts I'm male...the car is question was Speed Yellow...and it suited the 911 perfectly.

OMG. Sorry Erik. 'Kiss Smiley' is so close to 'Laugh Smiley'. It was a premature click!
So sorry to confuse you.
It would seem from my conversations with the 'professionals' that:-
(a) For metallic colours silver is best and black worst. Just as silver and grey show less dirt and black the most. Your shade of grey is excellent.
(b) For flat colours, red is best and both black and white are the worst. The latter two colours show dirt more and hence are the most difficult with respect to the application of paint protection. Unfortunately, red fades quicker with time, so paint protection is essential.
Now a rather poor sexual innuendo just for you: paint protection is like a condom especially for red paint.
By the way, I would have preferred to get a white Golf GTi. However, as everybody seems to be ordering white ones and as it is a pig to keep clean, I decided not to go with the flow! My second choice was red!
