Come along and meet some other dubbers from the area.
Nick

I'll be there. I'll try and get Roy down as well.
-
-
nick, want this popping up on a few other places ?
-
I've got it up here, edition and No-Rice. Think I'll leave it at that and see what the turnouts like. I don't want a million peeps on the first one causing it to become a bit of a nightmare.

-
I'm not sure if that wink should worry me or not
-
Gutted!!!! i think i got to work late that night, wiil this be a regular thing??
-
That's the plan. Not sure if it'll be monthly or what, think I'll just see how it goes!
Nick
-
Ok i will keep my eye out for this one.
-
might even drag the old girl out and come say hi

Yes you should, not seen you in aaaaages!
Nick

bloody cars not been out properly in ages either, needs to be tuned up big time, its costing abt 1 quid every 2 miles
-
Ouch! I thought mine was bad.
nick

This is getting a bit crazy, loads of peeps on Edition are up for it. Better get there early for a spot in the car park!
nick
-
have you spoken to the pub, Nick?
-
No. I didn't think i'd need to as to be honest I thought about 10 folks would turn up.
I've been thinking today that putting in a call might be a plan but I'm not sure what to say without it sounding like a bunch of loud cars and loonies will be turning up. I've organised loads of local pub meets for my old mini club but never had these kind of numbers interested before.

I'd say it's worth a call just a.to let them know and b.make sure they don't have something special on that night (a bit late now I know). The meets will calm down after the first one or two. Luckily, the car park won't be big enough for twittish driving. We'll just have to make sure that we don't get complaints from local residents once it's more established.
-
My thoughts exactly. If numbers do stay high we could always move to the Longbridge Mill as 1) it has a HUGE carpark and 2) it's my bosses sisters pub so should be able to get a good word put in for us.

I'd never heard of that place. Its on a good road for people attending from further away

Southern Dubbers used to meet there on the 1st sunday of every month but there was only ever about 5 of us. There was always a Vaux Calibra meet the same day. The Car park is really big and they have loads of garden space as well. Might even be worth switching to there in the summer to lay about on the grass in the warm evenings.
Anyhoo I'll give the CA a ring tonight and see what they say.

Right spoke to the Chineham Arms today, landlord wasn't in, spoke to some dude and explained about 15 or so cars will be turning up on thursday night for a meet. He seemed to think it was all cool. We shall see. To be honest 15 was a bit of lie, last time I counted the people interested in cming on Edition it was about 30+!!!!!!
Er anyhoo. It'll either be fine or they'll tell us to get lost in which case a decamp to the longbridge mill maybe called for. ANyone coming please park condsideratly and please don't drive like a gimp in the carpark or surrounding roads so at least they can't complain about that.
Cheers,
Nick

This is tommorow!!
-
Yup. It's going to be a disaster! I really didn;t think that many people would be up for it but I posted it on edition and there's flipping loads of people who say they want to come.

doesn't mean they all will. If it's raining I bet it'll be a 50% turn out. Alternatively, I could be throughly wrong and the pub will run out of coke by 20.30
-
Ah well we'll see.
I'll see you at 7!
Nick

post on the edition thread that the police will be there checking tyre sizes, that should cut the numbers

yep, a nice turn out.
-
It was really good to meet you at last Simon.
Last night's getting some good feedback on edition and the corrado forum so next month is certainly a goer although the landlord apparently referred to us as "those gay VW owners outside" to one of the corrado owners girlfreinds!

Ditto re finally meeting.
I vote we change pubs before this gets going. A.I don't like miserable land lords that don't appreciate good business, B.It'll be too small for the summer months and C.Over £3 for a pint of aussie pish is a rip off.
-
Agreed. I think the Longbridge Mill is the way to go even if it is a couple of miles out of town. It's 1) got a bigger car park 2) much cheaper beer 3) much much cheaper food and 4) No wanky landlord!
Edit: and £1.60 for a coke? WTF!
nick

Two things.
1) Decided to change the name to BaD-VAG for Basingstoke and Dean VAG meet. Seemed better than the other name which was a bit lame.
2) Set up a blog for it @ http://bad-vag.blogspot.com/ (http://bad-vag.blogspot.com/). Not really sure why but hey, could be fun. Need to knock up a title image and mess about with it a bit though.
Nick

I like the name, but googling bad vag brings up some interesting results lol
-
Anyone going this month? Only just stumbled across this thread, might go on the 25th (that's when the site says the next one is)
-
I'll be going!
