Title: Which first ?
Post by: fletch..gti on 11 February 2010, 17:17
My car is a 06 gti only got 14000 on clock . In June it wants 4year service , and the car as the 4th year warranty . Cam belt needs doing and dsg oil changing . Was going to spread them out over time. One done around now then service in June and cam or dsg later again . Which would you have done first cam or dsg oil .  :undecided:

dsg oil first, as the oil is more likely to be fooked, esp as its done such low miles over a long time.

cam belt could be left for at least another year imo.

To enjoy a car does not mean you have to do 20,000 miles per year .
My car is driven alot just don't do lots of miles because it's not used
for work . Also if it's ice snow , or car as been cleaned and there is rain I
can leave it in garage and nip out in my work car ( corsa )

You should defo get the water pump changed when the cam belt + tensioners are done! It would be easier to change at the same time with the work they are doing, I am sure some of the guys can say why it’s also technically a good thing to do at the same time also.
