Lol, almost everything! It's not just a case of changing the blocks, there's the fuelling and pretty much everything, it's a big expensive job, be much better to find a 16v and start with that.

I dunno about an 8valve being quicker than a 16valve but unless you have plenty of know how and some cash on the hip its probably best to stick with the 8valve.

From what I hear theres alot of wiring butchery and all sorts involved during the swap.

I wanted to stick a G60 motor in my 8valve but apparently that can be a right mission aswell, and hard to find

It's quicker low down... 16V has to be driven harder to get those extra horses to work!!!

Hence why 16V engines don't last as long...

bollocks, bollocks and bollocks

At low rpm a good 8 valve can MATCH  a 16v's torque  and the first 4 gears are the same ratio.
as the revs rise from idel  16v makes more and more torque,  then you get to 4000 rpm the torque from the 8v is starting to fall and about to face plant the deck, where as at 4000 the 16v comes on cam and just makes MORE TORQUE and pulls hard till it hits the limiter

16V's dont have to be driven hard but if you choose to drive it hard it will reward you with more power :)  and there defantly arn't any issues with 16v engine life,  if anythign they make more miles than most 8 valves
