Title: MOT fail :(
Post by: Brads MK2 GTI on 11 February 2010, 13:07
Hmm so just failed the test as I was expecting, front shock is leaking bad on driver side, needs some welding where the off side rear seat belt is anchored, rear calliper seized (shock horror!), obviously handbrake failing because of that, brake load sensing valve linkage seized, brake bias valve right? Any tips on freeing this?

So not too bad really, going to try and wind the calliper but I think it's breakers for 2 late MK3 ones, less anyone's selling any?

Any one got shocks from GSF before, or better going through VWSpares? Or even genuine? Trying not to spend loads as might put a whole new front and back on later this year and lower it slightly.

Does anyone know if the rear seat belts anchor onto the floor pan or is there a plate or similar?

The Boge Turbo shocks from GSF are pretty good. I have a pair on my Golf, and from what I've read on here, people have high regardss towards the value for money

Might sound alot but nothing you have listed is a disaster as for the brake bios valve, just buy a new one as I'm pretty sure u won't unsieze it and if it's knackered then it's just safer to buy a new one as this is what stops the rear end breaking away under heavy braking.

can be freed with a whack for the mot although an mot tester did this on my old one not me.
The calipers seize on the handbrake mech so dont think winding it is gonna do much.
