Title: idle speed stabilisation control valve
Post by: mickysuperstar on 09 February 2010, 07:20
Hey lads,

when I fire up my mk2 gti 8v, it idles at 2k revs until I tap the accelerator and it drops to 900/1000 revs.

Thinking it may be the 'idle speed stabilisation control valve'. As everything else seems in check...

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Remove the ISCV and clean it out with carb cleaner and leave it to soak. Re-install and see if things have improved.

Check that the idle switch on the throttle body is working, ISV won't work unless it contacts properly when you back off the pedal.

Yeah the idle switch is ok.. So gonna try the cleaning option. Looks like it has been 'fettled' with in the past coz it is wrapped in electrical tape.. So may order a new one from gsf.
