Can anyone tell me how much if your GTi has had it done yet, the 40k service.
This is just the engine service . ive already had brake fluid service, dsg service done.
Vw Dealers have quoted me £300!!, seems abit excessive. Any help would be great.

Hi Phil , my dealer wants £310 quid just for oil servcie longlife ?? So seems about right to me?? Hope you are well Steve

^^^^ My last service - 30k, T&D, LL oil - was about £130.

There was comparisons on here a few weeks ago and £295 for the 40k service seems to be a price that's stuck in my mind for some reason...? :undecided:
No independent guys near you?

I had my 40k / 4 year T&D done last summer for just shy of £300 (might be the £295 Familydub is referring to) so sounds about right. Also had brake fluid and A/C services done at the same time pushing it up to just under £400.
Cam belt this year

Just had two quotes today for a 3 year T&D, with LL oil one was £145 the other was £164. Mind you, two other VW dealers I rang couldn't give me a quote as their systems were down! "Sorry Sir but........."

Another example of how fcuking stupid the world is becoming. Hardly a specialist quote is it?

Im abit worried about going elsewhere. I use JKM in Portsmouth, and no need to big up their case as they are one of the best Knowledgeable people when it comes to the TFSI, but what if comes to mind. Cars 3 years old, ok factory warrantys up, and say if the Turbo goes as an example, the dealership will be quick enough to say " youve not had your last service done here, so a sympathic claim on say a major component failure, they would wipe their hands with it. Thats what im frightened of tbh.
Dealer has since said if i supply the longlife oil (which i have 5 litres at home) will do it for £250. Jkm will do it for £200 with again me suppling the oil.
It just seems alot of money, for what is affectively a oil/filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, Spark plug change, and a safety check  , which i know i have 4mm on the front pads and 8mm on the rear, as ive not long had a brake fluid, and DSG service already completed my them 6 weeks or so ago, oh and a cambelt and tensioner replaced under warranty.
To do the above would take no more then 1.5 hours??. So it must be nearly £100 an hour labour rate??
Even the Guy that looks after Peter coopers carpark said "Back Again?" lol.
If i add up the dsg service £150, Brake Fluid service £60.Engine service £300, then a 40k service is mighty expensive!!

Fair enough. The price has changed because you're providing the oil, but that isn't technically a discount!
If you have given the dealer repeat business, surely suggesting this - and potential future work, I.e. the 40k you mention - might merit the service manager meeting you halfway at perhaps £225?
Or even pay the £250, but ask him what else he can help with - discount on the 40k service, discount on other parts? Something?!
Don't ask, you don't get!
-
that does sound a lot phil, im having my DSG change next month and was anticipating a full service at around that cost.
oh and surely if you blow the turbo up out of warrenty it doesnt matter where you get it serviced?? could be a good excuse for a 3071

How are you finding stage 1 to stage 2 difference Nick?
-
for probably 2-3 weeks i couldnt really use it because of the snow and icey roads. now i can use it its great and im really enjoying it but i dont think its anything like the shock i got from stage 1. im hoping the pump and CAI i have coming will help quiet a bit.

Did you get the blueflame TBE the same time as your revo, or have Revo 1st, just trying to find if you noticed a difference in Performance as im having my dowpipe/Cat going on tommorow . Did you find any difference between Revo 1 and revo 1 with Blueflame added?
-
My 40k service is due soon (actually on 44k on long life interval) and my local VW dealers have quoted me between £185 and £220 for the service inspection including the pollen filter on long life (no brakes as was dome last year). Car is just over 3 years old so cambelt not due until Sept this year.

i got the stage 2 file put on the same time as the exhaust, didnt want the light on the dash and i dont go to my tuner VAGtech that often as they are about 40 min drive so wanted it all done at the same time. are you not putting the code on yours ? tight git!!
-
Stage 2 needs an intercooler tbh Nick. Dont want to break Phylis or cause undue stress. Also would need better brakes, or ill end up in the back of someone.
Im staying stage 1 for the time being.
-
stage 2+ you should have a bigger cooler but there are people running without. i will be getting one before summer myself.
you will most probably need the stage 2 code to turn of the sensor, or you could be lucky like hedge. you dont need a cooler for S2 tho philys
How much was your DSG service??
-
Just booked mine in for a 40K service, at local dealers in Harrogate - including oil, filter, spark plugs and pollen filter - £242.90 inclusive of parts and labour,
-
Cheers Yorkishire and everyone. Nick DSG service was around £175
-
thats good to know thanks

Awesome GTi, Manchester - had mine done couple of weeks ago. £212.75. I paid a tenner to get an engine Oil flush as well.
They picked up the fact that the 2 front Goodyear Eagle F1's were split on the inside tyre wall (4mm left, but gone back on Warranty - got a front set of Michelin PS3's on now) and the noisy Cambelt (got it done under Warranty).
Can't fault the guys - seemed to know what they were doing and they put the trial APR re-map on at the same time (which was fun for the 6 hour trial).
I'll be taking it back there as the normal dealer it's been at for every service so far wanted £300.
