Cheers JV

Right then! My name is Smitty or Adam if you want,
This is my very first VW, its a 51plate MK4 Golf GTI 2.slow Colour Concept
I have always loved the MK4 from a young age and it was completely by chance i got the car, it actually wasnt me who found it, it was my dad. It was the back end of April 2009 that we found it, it was in BCA at Gosforth in Newcastle. First time i seen the car i just knew i wanted it! It was in a pretty bad state due to some damage and engine problems at the time but i didnt care i just had to own it so just short of two grand later the car was mine
After having the car on the drive a few days i decided to do some research on what it actually was and to my supprise it was 1 of 400 specially made "Colour Concepts". There were 200 blue, 100 red and 100 Yellow produced in total. I phoned the VW dealer and they confirmed it was one of the cars not just a replica or rip off, they were very happy to hear there was one in the local area and im still yet to bring it down to show them.

I knew from day one i had every intention to modify the car, after speaking to a few people and having a look myself i relised there was very little performance to gain from the 2.slow engine so ive decided i would like to make it a show car

The Standard Spec
Recaro leather colour coded seats,
winter pack,
Gamma head unit and sound system,
6 CD auto changer,
Stealth look dash and trims,
Yellow leather door cards,
Yellow leather Gear knob cover,
Yellow leather hand break cover,

This is how i got the car:
Broken driver side headlight, broken driver side mirror, missing petrol cap, large dint in driver side door and sill, missing drivers side bumper grill, crack in winscreen.
The manifold also had two cracks, the started motor sqealed terribly (still does), couple of gaskits blown, in desparate need of a service and a badly worn timing belt.

I'll post up all work done so far ASAP. Lots done since day one and plenty more to come

Week 1

My first week was manic getting things done. First things first she was well in need of a good service, changed oil, air and fuel filters, spark plugs, timing belt, break pads, chipper slag off discs and got onto the repairs all in the same day, we whipped out the starter motor and used more or less a full can of WD40 to get the movement smooter, took off the manifold and had it sent to be welded, replaced a couple of gaskits and started stripping down the drivers side door, i also had a set of TT comps waiting to go on so put them on the same day...

Next onto the body repairs, replaced the headlight, driver side door, petrol cap and winscreen. Also lowered by 50mm (Weitec springs) and tinted the windows (tinted vision)

From this:

adding four of these and a tripp along tinted vision:
i know random shot

and ending up like this:

After that re-sprayed down both sides as the touching up wasn't the best, had a days worth of polishing aswel :

Loom for the vents is on its way up, got the W8 light loom in the garage ready to go with the vents

for now thou a few new updates...
Mr AA man had to help me out:

First off my car decided to take up self harming:

At first i replaced the fuse and checked all connections hoping for a quick fix, this was the temporary fix while waiting for a fuse: lol
(http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm140/smithybateslane/P010410_0925_04.jpg)
It wasnt a quick fix. After replacing the fuse a second time decided to check charge coming from the alternator, it didnt look good! was reading between 1.74 and 15.46 volt output
(http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm140/smithybateslane/P010410_1054.jpg)
This = dead alternator

Can you spot what missing?
...
Yup alternator completely chucked it so basically just replaced for a new one £130 down the drain.

But on a lighter note! New parts which im very pleased with is my new front aero wipers  rain is no longer a problem!

Also finally got my pressed plates fitted
Old plastic plate off and front cleaned up:

And New metal pressed plates on and ready to go

and on the car:

This week has just been nothing but disapointing. The next updates on the car will be few and far between

As some of you may know the car has developed a knocking sound coming from somewhere in the bottom of the engine bay. I've had it in my mates garage three times now and had three different mechanics drive it, problem is not one of them can put there finger on what it is

While its been up on the ramp weve noticed some problems which include:

Rear axle bushes,
the Anti roll bars are wearing away (this could be the knocking)
CV joints need re-greasing (could also be the knocking)
needing new front discs and pads.

The only other thing that could be causing the knocking is the gear box  if it is there wont be any updates for a long long time as it'l cost a fortune to refurbish a second hand one and the only way to tell if it is the gear box is to wait until it explodes

Probably the best time in the world to stick a 20vT lump in but i'm still 19 so dont think the insurance company would be best pleased lol

Things are looking up again!!!
Found the knocking  :embarassed: looks as if someone had tried to pinich my alloys as the wheel bolts were loose! that was all that was causing it!

I've replaced the back axle bushes and ARB but unfortunatly dont have any pics

I do have pics of the shiney new disc's that are now on thou
Front disc's and pads done:

Been neglecting my project page again, got a couple of updates on the way

Installed my bora vents and W8 interior light yestarday, i'm over the moon with how they look! Definitely worth doing, top mod! Big thanks to wazzzer for the loom and Matt for the advice on fitting
Will get pics up asap!

Also after being undecided for many months now i've finally took the plunge and bought some coilovers!!!!
Will update with how i get on fitting them sometime next week

Since i've been modding and changing bits on my car i've got a small collection of "for sale" items lol

Anyone in need of some standard vents, a GTI or JOM airblade valance or a set of audi TT competition alloys?  PM me for any details

Still looking for front spacers, anni rear valance and side skirts.

Coilovers arnt going on anymore as -50mm seems fine for the time being to me.

I've just ordered an anni front grill badge from the dealers, £18.00!!
