Title: Pirelli PZero Rossos - any good?
Post by: dunc69 on 03 February 2010, 19:24
Hello all!

Two questions:

I will need to change all four tyres in the next few months and have been reading related posts here with interest.  It would seem anything around or under £100 per corner is a good deal (Vredesteins seem to be the choice bearing in mind price and performance on here).

My local ATS in St Albans always have good deals running along the lines of four tyres for the price of three.
Currently they are offering four Pirelli PZero Rossos for £381.16 all in.

Seems like a good deal to me, but are the tyres any good, and do they suit the GTI ('05 DSG)?

Any help here would be much appreciated!

One other thing.  Just had my DSG Oil and Filter changed, and got a good deal (VW Indy undercutting Wayside VW by over £50), but was surprised when they said they had used 7 litres of oil. Does this sound about right?

Many thanks again,
dunc69

Had them on my Mk5, great tyres with awesome dry grip and amazingly just as good in the wet.

Regarding the oil - they should have used 4.6 litres I think

Thanks guys, and Robern2, thanks for the PM - very helpful (couldn't reply, not sure why?).

Anyone else found the durability of the Pirellis an issue?

dunc69 - 7 litres of oil for dsg is correct

jamesgti22 - 4.6 litres is the oil capacity of the engine

billy

Are you kidding? I had those from new on my Leon Cupra R and they were rubbish. Grip was awful, especially in the wet and they as you say didn't last. Stay clear in my opinion. When I switched to Eagle F1's there was a huge improvement.

I've just has 2 x Michelin Pilot Sport 3's fitted on the front.

Absolutely incredible grip levels in the wet, they just keep hanging on!

Paid £142 each (18").

Have them on my fr leon right now. Erh tyre wear on the fron aint to bad to say i had them for 6 months know. But road noise at times is dreadful.

Seem ok at the moment but most people say eagles.
