Would it be a problem changing ther handbrake cables while the car is jacked up from the axel?

Yer the main problem been that your jacking of the axel! Jack at the correct points on the car. Somone on here a couple of months ago bent there axel whilst jacking it!

did mine without jacking it up, and its lowered 40mm
