Title: SPAX PSX on a MK3
Post by: sherbert on 31 October 2004, 00:10
Recently bought and had fitted a SPAX PSX kit to my mk3.

Super, smashing, great...now handles like a ton better than it did
on the originals! really comfy with it and not a boneshaker like my m8's mk2 with FK coilovers.
Thing is, does any of you guys know if SPAX supply these kits with the dampning fully soft?
Fully stiff? or somewhere in the middle, as the guy who fitted them (Motorcare of Duxford, ex VW, thanks JV) didnt touch the settings and i daren't untill i know where im starting from ???

Dead easy with Spax. Well mine have been the same.
(Two sets on diff cars)
Top adjust. (fronts)
Ya should have a knurled knob, plastic about 50mm dia.
This fits on the mop of the shock and gives direction of travel, its usually clockwise for hard, anti-clock for soft.
So best to go one way or the other til it wont go any further, so its either fully hard or fully soft. Then decide where ya want it. If its in the middle when ya start, best to count the clicks as ya go then u will know where it was.
Rears i'm not sure if you will have top or side adjusters. tops as before, if its side then the principle is the same, ya kust have to use a srewdriver or allen key.

Check out Larkspeed's website. They are usually the cheapest for Spax. demon Tweeks are dear. But sure other people do em.

Last i saw was in the high two hundreds.

Usual drop 35/40mm
