Ah the wonderful Monza II 18"
Checking out after an incident with a pothole I've noticed the starting of whiteworm (wouldn't say it was cause by the pothole but a minor defect that was there, although not to sure).
Been told they could be around £75 a corner, the inserts might come back a different colour and no guarantee.
I love the look of them and I sort of suspect that if done and then looked after well with wax, sealant and regular washing them might stay good.
So my dilemma, to stay with the diamond cut, or go with a powder coat and who to go with (all roads seem to lead to spit and polish).

is it just the one alloy? have you had a look on ebay for a secondhand one? or spoken to Dealers to see if they will sort for you? there was a big thing when i had my mk5 and dealers were sorting the white worm under warranty as it was a defect in the finish!
-
I'll have to have another look, I think the white worm might just be on one, but the front two are showing some wear and tear from the excessive potholes around atm.
Well my Golf is a 56 reg, so wouldn't that put it out of warranty?
-
chance your arm i would say, speak to the dealers and see what they say! its a known defect with the wheel finish so kick up a fuss if they arent prepared to do anything about it!
-
I have a similar dilema with mine. Anyone know how huch a new alloy is from the dealer?
-
last time i had a quote (May 2009) it was approx £200 i think or around that mark!

One set of 4x replica 18" Monza 2's for £299 brand new. Not sure the insert finish is close to the standard but a little hard to tell from the pics.

Well after giving the car and alloys a good old wash, I want the original finish :)
Not sure what the dealers will say, I've only had the car 3 weeks brought from a trader and not even approched a dealer to talk about servicing etc, but I do have a few things I want them to look as some might be a reason to talk about it with them.
Talking with one alloy refurb they implied £75 a corner to recut it and finish, but no guarantee on the job, or if the insets will match the other alloys, they ship them to someone else, and talking to a dealer when I was looking for my mk5 Spit and Polish seem to be one of the only companies that will touch them, I'm going to get in touch with them direct see if I can get a better deal.

Where are you based Ant? The dealer I use recomended a company in the Herts area that might be OK. I was planing on using them to do mine, think they charge somewhere in the region of £60 per wheel. I have the company at home, will post it later on.
