Title: Washer Jet Stopped Working
Post by: NewbieGTi on 02 February 2010, 21:52
Hey Guys.

The passenger side washer jet for the front windscreen stopped working the other day. I swapped the jets over and it’s defiantly not a blockage.

I got the jet off and cleaned it out with some hot water but it’s still not coming through so looks like I may need a new one.

Does anyone know what the part number is and what it would cost?

Also I read on some other threads that you are only suppose to use VW screen wash?? I am using Halfords ready mix stuff.

Cheers

You could try blasting it through with a compressed air line (local garage) ?. Ref the screen wash i just use the cheap carplan stuff & mine has never been a problem. I live in a soft water area so that might help. One thing i did have was when i picked the car up & went to top up the screen wash there was a terrible mouldy type smell from the bottle.Got some boiling water & put some baby steri tablets in, did the job a treat cleaned it all out & no more smell ever since.

I'd check to ensure you haven't a leak to that side of the car, any dripping washer fluid?

There was a thread on this and I think the general feeling was the brand of washer fluid didn't really make any difference to clogging but some where better at not freezing up at really low temps.

Can't see any leak. I swapped the jets over and it worked. The area around the bonnet seems dry.

Anyone got a part for the washer jet module?

Thats what I thought, I would be pissed if I had to go to the dealer every time to get screen wash.
