Sorry.. i thought I had. Anyway some local tw4t near where i work decided that my car is obviously better than his reebroke classics, and therefore he would put a bar through my rear screen to show me whos boss!!

Thankfully, a lady noticed him with a petrol can moments before he put a bar through my screen, so she noted down the number plate of his mates/work van . So the police now have his details and CCTV of him smashing the screen.

Although this has seriously peeee'd me off, i am happy to let karma do its thing and await to see what the police do to him. Then just when he thinks he's safe.....

Although.... having a broken back screen does have its benifits

1. Exhaust sounds much more meaty
2. You never need to open your window
3. you can clean your parcelshelf with your rear washer jets
4. No need to demist rear screen

Horrible when something like this happens -  I know.

Let us know how you get on with the police/insurance/hitman.

(Probably the correct order to do things).

I really feel for you. How awful. Makes me sick.
Suggestion: move house or better still leave Leeds or even better leave the country.

I don't think the fact he's in Leeds makes it any more or less likely to happen. Indeed, Leeds didn't even make it into the top 10 worst places for car crime that was in the papers this week. If I remember correctly Hull was the worst.
It's a problem with this country in general - it's full of jealous tossers so you can't have anything nice without someone wanting to damage it or nick it.

Leeds is the car crime capital of Britain. The unwelcome label for the Yorkshire city, where owners have a 5.5 per cent chance of finding an empty space where their car used to be, has been awarded in a survey by the insurance company, Eagle Star.

London, which when mentioned in any telephone insurance quotation still receives an almost instant "Oh, that will put up your premium, sir", is apparently far from top of the theft league.

Residents of Birmingham, Newcastle upon Tyne, Manchester and Glasgow all have a higher chance of having their car driven off without consent, than do the residents of the capital city.

Leeds: the 'leader' of the pack!
Yes, there are some awfully jealous people out there.
It is all very worrying.

I suspect it all depends what source you use. The top 10 worst places for crime that I saw didn't include Birmingham either. Hull, Sheffield and Doncaster were in there but not Birmingham or Leeds.

Statistics eh? Who needs 'em? All I know is that I'm VERY careful where I leave my GTi whether that's in Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham or wherever!!!!

I have a friend who lives in Yorkshire.  Her husband likes to attend services at Bradford Cathedral.  He also likes his Merc.  The congregation (well, the ones with nice cars) have a rota system so that every few weeks when your turn comes, you don't go to church, you spend the morning patrolling the streets watching the cars.

Rolfe.

Smeggy usually comes up with this kind of tosh... i wouldnt pay much interest. however I would just like to point out that the gent who smashed my back screen wasnt of an ethnic background... but quite likely a gay very much like smeggy himself.

Soon brown and yellow ones will suffer the same fate too, in Leeds.
Thankfully there are no brown and yellow Golf GTis.

And just when everything was going so well.... managed to get a flat on the way home

Well it was cold and snowing a little so I sure as hell wasnt getting out to change a tyre. Had to drive about 12miles with a flat, lots of fun as getting the tale out became alot easier (rear drivers side).

tyre is capoot!! Had to drive a fair distance on it yesterday (as it was stupidly cold outside) but did manage to get the back end out a number of times

Was told today that the wall is possible knackered so it will have to be a new tyre  Back on the 17" for a day of so... picking up fixed tyre tomorrow.. dont think there was any damage to the monza 2 thankfully.

Glad you are ok.
The tyre will be replaced. I know it is a pain.
Amazing the Monza was undamaged.
Excellent result except for the tyre.
