Title: Which grills to use?

I've been busy again, knocking up some speaker grills.

My grills were totaly knackered and I couldn't find any down the scrappy.

I noticed that a CD is slightly smaller than the diameter of the speaker grills. ?So I bought a pair
of 6 inch speaker grills from Maplins ?1.49 each, and my mate gave me a pair of 8 inch Boschman
grills.

I put a knackered CD on top of the Maplin & Boschman grills, and sprayed over the CD to make
a template so I could then bend the grills at the edge of the sprayed line.

After a bit of cutting with wire snips, I then bent the grills at the edge of the sprayed line with a
pair of long nose pliers. ?To get a nice clean edge, I tapped the grills around the top of a paint tin.

Which ones do you reckon are best? ?(Ignoring cheap Pioneers of course)

Large grill hole?, Maplin.

ill rither have the small,  but there  both sweet u done a good job there mate

Yae, cheers. I think I like small too.

Their tuff as nuts too, first thing my mate did when he got out my car quickly was too kick the grill.
They did'nt  even bend.  Rock solid!!

thats how u want it!!! my passenger side 1 is batterd!!! n ant got 1 my side nemore cos it droped off n fell out of the car sumwhere

I'm thinking of using a bit of speaker cloth aswell, probably stretched across the four plastic posts
that the speakers slot onto.

Well the original grills I make out to be 121.9mm. (vernier calipers)

And my ones are.................122 - 122.5mm.

You have to slightly  bend the edge to get them to fit, that way their nice and tight.  I will superglue my ones permanantly, then put another coat of satin black paint on top.

I'm measuring the actual outer diameter of the speaker grill itself.

The speakers probably are 130mm diam.
