Title: gearbox locks up

Hi, was having a gearbox issue and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions??

Driving along and went to turn off into a side road, as i went to down into second, my gearbox completely locked up.
It popped out of third and then just locked itself into the neutral position.  Spent a bit of time trying to jiggle it into first and nothing.
Turned the engine off and tried to change gear and there was no problem.  It worked fine with the engine off, but was completely locked up with the engine on.

Anyone had this before, or have any ideas of what this could be??

+1 sounds like clutch, mine did similar for a while but sorted itself out after i played with the cable for a bit

Have ordered a new clutch cable as i've read that the self-adjusting one that is on mine is apparently really prone to going wrong.

aye, clutch cable would be #1 on my list o things to do :)
