Seems that VW are going to introduce a new entry level variant of the Scirocco.
Surely VW should be more concerned with improving the supply of current models. One customer had to wait 6 months for a 2.0TDI and 1.4TSI is even longer wait times and now the GTI is on long delays.
Surely adding an extra vehicle to the line up will compound the issue.

Your not the one who wrote the letter into Autoexpress this week are you, as someone said exactly what you just did on the letters page.

My thoughts exactly Gizzy.
Same with the R. They can introduce the new model and send demos out to dealers and yet there are people that ordered GTIs, TDIs and TSIs etct months ago yet don't even have firm build dates........
I wonder whether it's just right hand drive models that are suffering these delays (low profit models).

I think it is a safe bet that because it is a niche model (and we have been in recession) the Scirocco production line in Portugal is pretty close to idle. Hence the introduction of a low spec model to try and temp buyers.
The Golf production line is in Wolfsburg.

When i was asking about a golf GTI back in August. I also asked about the scirocco at that time the scirocco had the longer delay then, all my local dealers had sold out of allocation of the scirocco til January back in August.

Oh well, I guess VW just hates its British customers. Never mind, you can always buy a Ford next time

It's not the british customer VW hate, it's the 'POUND' that is killing them. As in all business their supplying customer who give them the most profit 1st, only to be expected.

I'm not so sure about what production line it comes off that makes the difference lately. I've read quite a few posts on the Scirocco forums bemoaning long wait times. My Father had the choice of a very long wait or take an already 'on the boat' Jetta last Autumn, and the Jetta is hardly a top seller either. The Jetta is not a Wolfsburg model either (and it shows by being far, far better value for money).
