I'm no expert but wouldn't any 1.8 turbo gearbox fit?
be it VW/seat/audi/skoda
I think they are all 020 'boxes, but as i say i'm unsure

I was told by my local vw breaker that you get chassis clearance problems when you use 1.8t gearboxes how true this is i dont know .
Is it possible you only have this problem with the 6 speed box rather than the 5 speed box???Can anyone put light on this issue !!
It would great if i could use a original 1.8t gearbox in a mk1.

The problem with the o2o box is finding a clutch that will hold the power and still be a drivable car (and the o2o g/box will fail at sometime). I have just changed my o2o for a o2a and have fitted a VR6 clutch which will be fine for the power and have all the benefits of a factory clutch. Use the (TT o2j ?) box and clutch, you will have to mix and match inner and outer cv joints, convert to cable shift gear linkage, find g/box mounts and convert to hydraulic clutch or use a conversion linkage to fit a cable clutch set up on the TT box. Seems a lot of work, but
(after toasting 3 clutches in my car ::))
well worth the effort for reliability.

TT, as in Audi TT.  o2j , as in g/box type. I think the "j" is a 6spd ???, the o2a is a 5 spd.
