I have recently bought a second hand Mk5 GTI DSG, which is good fun (although a bit tame after my old Elise... sigh). It has a wired mobile phone prep, and I am keen to get a cradle, but I haven't yet been able to find a list of what is available for what phones. From what I have read on the forum, it doesn't sound like I am likely to have much luck!
If I don't have any luck with the above, does anyone have a recommendation of a bluetooth handsfree kit that I can replace the old one with?
-
Apparently the FISCON bluetooth kit is quite good. Not tried it myself though.

If it's the VW phone prep then unless you have an old phone, you wont get a cradle. I had this on my car which I eventually removed and fitted the Skoda Bluetooth kit.
I've installed a few Parrot kits in other cars which are good.

Thanks for the advice, guys. It sounds like a Bluetooth kit is the way forward - my phone is pretty new, plus BT is more future-proof.

I've had one of these for 3 years, excellent pieces of kit

I also have the Parrot kit like 2007GTI.
You can see mine here - just below the vent.
All cables etc are hidden.
The microphone is on the same side - just above the pillar. Again cable etc is hidden.
This was already set up when I bought the car. Does the job perfectly fine, and Im very happy with the placement etc as well.

I have my iPhone paired with my parreot - but where yours says 'iPhone' mine just says 'localhost'. Everything else works as per normal.
How did you get your to read iPhone?
-
its down to what the phone is called, try and rename it in itunes, should solve it.

I just picked up my new car that has Fiscon BT and I would strongly recommend it but only if you have the RNS510 and highline computer. I used to have a Parrot and that was fine (but sometimes flaky) but the Fiscon gives me:
1. Full touch screen integration with my RNS510
2. Caller display and control in the highline and navigation with MFSW
3. No ugly bits of kit sticking out from the dashboard - its all hidden
4. In my experience, much better quality sound, and noise reduction

I got a Parrott CK3100 installed in my ED30 when I bought it - was well chuffed!!!! Till I kept getting callers saying they couldn't hear me properly. I got another ICE garage to relocate the Mic off the Drivers Pillar, to the centre headliner, but still no joy.
I ended up ripping the **** out of the dash one day when it totally ****** me off! My mate has the same unit in his Van and I know what people are talking about - he sounds sh1te, really distorted. I still have it plugged in but it doesn't switch on now - wonder why
Personally, I wouldn't bother with the Parrott - please tell me what you guys did differently if you had any sound issues.
BTW - I had a Golf Plus yesterday on Courtesy, with a RNS510 in - they are very good, but what about the 4 digit Postcodes (ahem, that went out with my old Navman 4 years ago!)>

had parrot ck3100 for 3.5 years, no probs whatsover. I have heard of bad installs fooking it up.

I had the same problem when my Parrot was fitted. The microphone was located in the interior light cluster out of sight, but I had to move it to the A-Pillar as I sounded muffled to my callers. Since moving it they've had no problems hearing me.
