By this time my 2yr old boy is telling me daddys cars broken again!! which didnt help matters lol.
Anyway i got her her cut out a couple of time but tarted straight away and now pretty much the same when i have the bottle to drive it.
The symptoms are similar to before except the spluttering/no turn over with key but then will/it starts or at least fires up now without having to wait for 10mins like before......
Can anybody pl help me because to be honest its driving me absolutly crazy...just want my confidence back in her.....its a p reg (96) 2.0 8v pl guys help a desperate dad o his 2yo dosent ridicule me anymore lol

hi m8,
sorry to hear that...
my initial thoughts would be relay - what colour was the one you bought - if it was grey, then these are known for being less than sh!te quality!
could be a cheap fix,
alternatively i would suggest crank sensor/ or wiring to the crank sensor if yours has one...
other than that wait to see what others hear say...
bloody 8valves, why do we love em :D

hi mate sorry to hear about the car.
when i first got my mk3 it would cut out randomly and sometimes in really bad places lol
i took it to the garage and the couldnt find anythin wrong with it, i tried alsorts, changin the battery and things like that
but it kept cutting out and it started to get on my nerves.
after the car cut out it wouldnt sart up again but after a few hours it would start up fine  so i took it back to the garage and told them what happens and they took it for a drive for a while until the car cut out then they checked under the bonnet and it was the distributer it had a split in plastic cover that opened up when the engine heated up
so i got a new one fitted and its never happened since
so......... maybe its something like that?
hope that helps any, let us know how you get on

Hey Fella,
Sorry to hear you've lost confidence in the car. Can empathise as had exactly the same issue with my 1995 8v.
Mine would run fine then cut out randomly! Sometimes start straight up, sometimes not. It would cut out quickly, sometimes with a misfire but mostly like someone had turned off the ignition!
With mine it was the coil, cos I had it done straight off at garage it was £66 but it is a piss easy job and from ebay they are about £35 could do it yourself. (next time it goes take lead off dizzy cap that runs from coil and check for spark).
Hope you find the problem mate!

Sounds like an electrical fault for sure. First of all check you have a spark as already said (Obviously when the car is playing up or not startin). Check each individial plug is getting a decent spark. If you have the chance to borrow a known working coilpack then I'd try that.

I had the same issue as you! my turned out to be the ignition switch, sounds like it could be the same for you! Have a try with that i reckon thats your problem

I'd say coil, distributor or cap or a crank sensor.
