not sure if this is a good place to put this or not, but thought as it concerned both mk2 and mk3 owners (did any others have electric aerials?) i thought it would get seen more,
just a poll to see how many electric aerials are still working..
dont think ive ever seen one work, lol!
mods - feel free to tell me off and move it to a more relevant section... cosmetic matters... wasnt sure, lol!
-
this was popular, lol!
-
I can't think of any vw's that have electric aerials... it's mainly bee stings or them front wing pull up things!
-
I've had 3 people ask me about this in the last week
They keep thinking the aerials on Mk3's are electric.. when they're not
-
looks electric to me??
why would there be wires going to and from it??
were they on the mk2's then?
didnt mean to annoy anyone:(
-
Robz it not annoying I was curious of the thread! I wasn't sure what you meant :undecided:
oh and my old wing aerial had an amplifier built in which was wired to the stereo!
-
ahhh, that might explain it then...
my radio signal is no different after cutting it off lol
i just saw all the cogs in there and thought that was the mech for sending it up, i might pull it apart to see, lol
it is/was a wing aerial - just a commen misconception, lol!

If it has coggs then it is electric...I do know hella sold electric mk3 aerial's but have never seen one fitted
-
i'll pull it apart, take pics and see if i find a motor...
i was under the illusion that they did have them... dont know where from or why, lol
my m8 says his mk2 should have one but has packed up?
-
My Saab had an electric aerial and that work all ok
-
Its strange this post should crop up actually as i removed the one from my accord the other day and i was reluctant is its the only one that has ever actually worked for me!
-
welll someone has put theirs still works... speak up... is it electric??
sorry peeps not had chance to pull it apart to see whats in the guts of it, lol
yeah, that must have been annoying r machines!!
-
nope it never did, so i took it out and replaced it with a 16v one on the roof, it looks better and at least it works!
