Looks even worse than the horrible mk6.

Mk5 Golf was the last nice GTI, then its all about the polo really.

Vw designers seem to be lacking abit in the imagination department when it comes to the golf. Mk5 Mk6 and now the Mk7 all look very similar :undecided:

Looks like every other modern car, soulless and uninspiring

Spot the difference

Definatly.. they need to stop selling them to the 'wrong people' before they're just another rep car.. and bring it back to basics

hopefully the GTI version will help redeem it slightly but i imagine it will be very close to the mk5/ mk6 again!

Looks like a mk6 absorbed an astra...
Disappointing :(

It definitely looks like the Astra, not a great move !!

I've just bought a MK5 which personally I think looks better than the MK6 - if I'm honest though I don't think many of the VW models have anything distinctive in the looks department (Roc is the exception), it's more about the driving experience/convenience factor

Front is too thin, and the rear is way too high.  Reminds me of my old clio (mk2) that had a fat arse which sat too high, which no amount of "slammage" would fix.

poor effort VW.  Ill stick to the oldies for now

I don't like the grill, it needs the red strips on the grill.  It's just a mk6 with the rear end from the new Focus.

Mk1, - > Mk5
Mk2, - > Mk6
Mk3, - > Mk7
Mk4, - > Mk8,

by that reasoning, the next decent one's gonna be the mk 9

That's bloody awful.

My favorite golfs are, in order;

MK2
MK1
MK4   :smug:
MK3
MK6
MK5  :undecided:

and now, at the bottom of the list,

MK7. Eww.

agree with the polo comments. was at the dealers the other day having a look (whilst waiting for the parts guy gossiping on the phone  ). Its a better looking car than the golf tbh and a nicer size!
Title: Re: Golf mk7 - coupe?
Post by: DubFan on 26 January 2010, 09:10
How about this then? A Golf Coupe concept, likely to be badged as a Jetta though.

Or

Apparently it's a hybrid. Quite pretty I think.

on first glance I just thought 'Astra' - especially its arse

oh crap... when will there be another truly remarkable golf... or are we done and dusted now

it is up to us to act as guardians of the future, the custodians of living engineering history

I think the polos have always been good, apart from the one with the dodgy headlights, just that the GTI badged ones are few and far between, the new ones are more Golf GTI than the Golf GTI, as in size.

Only from major car companies. Look at the specialist stuff we have had recently.

Ariel Atom, Caterham R400/500, Lotus Exige R, etc.

Not exactly boring.....

Aye, in tought financial times like these, large companies arent willing to take any risks, they just want a guaranteed return.

Hence this vanilla ice cream of a car.

Haven't bothered reading more than the first couple of posts in this thread.. but the pics Khare posted just look like a slightly facelifted mk6.. I don't see it worthy of being called a mk7 really!

Just another car with a vw badge they call a golf. Parts robbed off other models and walla, there you have it a mk7!

They lost their touch a long time ago. Ohh well at least mk1 and mk2 prices will go up

The mk1 and mk2 had a huge amount of robbed parts so its not new. Common to the passat and audi 80 of the time.
