do you just want it blown over incl door and boot shuts or whole car?  How much work are you prepared to do yourself along the lines of stripping the car and prepping the bodywork?

£2500 minimum for a decent pukka job I would assume

Colour change bumps up the cost significantly as you got to spray all the nooks and crannies otherwise it won't be worth doing

Plus the amount of prep work that would need to go into it to ensure the best possible finish

You southern types are mad. I can get an entire car done for £800, thats round the doors and in the bay a bit. For a complete strip down your looking at about 2k

Yeah and it'll probably look like a £800 paint job... and since when is Wales considered 'southern'?

For a complete strip down your looking at about 2k

So not far off what Rhyso said?

the primer/paint/lacquer/consumables will cost at least £400, even if you strip the car (handles, glass, trim etc) you're still looking at 20-30hrs to prep the body/paint/rub it back etc.  That's 3 days labour - £200 per day is cheap...so that's a grand minimum at real budget price.

paint isn't that much, i just bought enough paint and laquer to do my whole car inside and out for £180 (primer not included though). i'm not even sure that was trade price?

i can see labour being the killer, takes f'ing ages

depends on what paint you buy of course.  A pearl effect paint is going to cost more.

i suppose, the above was metallic with 2pac laquer, so middle of the road i would have thought

dont encourage pearl effect!

9 years ago a standard non-metallic paint for my Mini was £60 per litre plus VAT. Chromaflair for the roof was £200 per litre plus VAT

I was just quoted £1100 to do my corrado if i delivered it completely stripped, ie no glass, no interior, no lights / aerial.

That doesnt include the engine bay and doesnt include any door shuts / interior bits. I would also have to put it all back together.
Any welding and dent removal required would be extra on top of that price.

I've decided to paint my car the expensive way and do it myself,

1st step was to get workshop good enough to paint in,  ( theres some piccys on here somewhere )  then we bought a sh!t corsa to play on

after striping it down,  sanding filling, sanding filling and primeing then sealing, took ages    the paint and laquer went on in about 1 1/2 hours,  then you have to put all the trim back.  we spent about 4 days on the corsa we recon to do it properly will take  a week,

going to set aside about 50 hours each to paint mine,   thats colour change but engine bay and underside going white

Come on man...lets be realistic here, you're going to need at least 20 cans if you want to do the engine bay and boot as well :P
