No it's not - they are totally different in set-up.

Computer wires set-up is different, I know as I've seen looking for a 16V loom for my car conversion from 8V Mk1. If your doing this on a mk2 the wiring is very simple, but for Mk1's you have to bastardize the loom a bit...!!

Which 8V loom do you have now - is it Mk1 or Mk2?

I have an 86 8 valve kjet loom
and he needs and 87 16v loom which is kjet also

both have the same mfa stuff and sensors as far as I know ...

have a look at this thread on 16V conversions on vwvortex and there are pic's of the 16V loom you should be able to check yourself against the 8V loom for the differences... but I'm 100% sure they are not the same.

16v k-jets have ECU controlled electronic ignition. so there is a fair bit more in the 16v loom

8v k-jets dont have any of this. 8v k-jets dont even have an ISV
