Title: My 1st VW GTi......Need some help!

Im new to the fourm and i just got a golf so got a few questions...

Picked up a 2000 (X Reg) Golf Mk4 GTi 1.8 Turbo this weeked, its silver, pics to follow.

got about 750 quid to spend on it, it is fully standard, what mods should i do? Performance of visual dont mind to much. mainly performance. Any ideas would be much appreciated thanks guys.

Also, i no what "traction control" is (kinda) but what does it do, should i leave it on or off ect. Thanks guys.

You should only modify your Golf in a way that you want. If you want power or better looks then just have a look at some of the other people's Mk4 Project threads in this forum. I have a Mk2 and using the project threads helped me out a lot.

Traction control is basically am electronicly controlled system that detects when the driving wheels (in your case, the front 2) of you vehicle are about to spin and loose grip. It then stops power from the engine going to that wheel by physically slowing the engine. It's the computer saying "Wooh there boy, there's a bit too much throttle being used here, I'll just back it off for ya."

Turn it off and the car will be more likely to understeer and loose grip but as long as you're not a hill billy you won't really need to worrie.

Traction control is good in the wet/ice or when you're feeling sensible. Turn it off when you're not. Simple.

(Note: I have never expeirenced TC as I have only driving cars without it. My info comes from :embarassed: Gran Turismo :embarassed:)
