hi ive noticed a yellow thing under my drivers side wing with 2 wires that come off it ive seen them on other vws what is it and what is it for ? also how hard is it to replace a radiator on an 8v gti mine is loosing water badly from the bottom any help woild be really appreciated

The radiator is easy! Take the front bumper off, disconnect all the hoses and temp sensor, drain down, then you unbolt the rad its self and lift out, You might need to take the front cross member off, which is just another 4 bolts, i know the smaller 1.4 rads etc.. will just lift out.
As for the yellow thing.. I have no idea  Not the Air bag sensor is it?

thanks about the radiator info as for the yellow thing i aint got a clue what it is i cant see it being airbag sensor as ive seen them on older vws in the local scrap yard

Get a pic up cos your discription is abit vague.

I swear I have posted this twice now.
It is the dayglo resistor which dimly illuminates the dipped beam with the sidelights.

... There you go, thats ur answer, Didnt know there was such a thing but if its anything like hondas that sounds rite

I am sure if it is under the wing then it is the airbag sensor.
-
hi thanks i will get a pic up of it later but im pretty sure it aint anything do with air bags as ive seen it on older vws it has a yrllow plug on it to
-
sure sounds like dimdip resistor, post a piccy so we can be sure. if it looks like a lump of ceramic about size/shape of a pack of polos, then yeah thats what it is. brings dipped beam on dimly with the sidelights, and isnt required by law or mot. its other main function is to short out on the chassis leg and set fire to your headlight loom.

thanks for that i now know what it is as you all say its for dimbeam on lights thanks again it was really bugging me not knowing what it was
