Hi everyone, my name is Tom from Erskine in Renfrewshire - new to VW / Golf and the site.
Did a bit of research before buying a 2005 GTI FSI automatic with most of the toys.
I have sucessfully fitted the Xcarlink adapter for my iPhone and it all works.
Is there a way to upgrade the depth of sound (bass is crap) without replacing the MFD2 unit?
I will check out the audio section. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks - Tom

Welcome to the forum, good choice with the MK5 ;)
You can upgrade your speakers but that wont do a great deal as the standard HUs just dont kick out enough watts. Keep the same speakers and upgrade the HU and you will see a massive difference in sound,

Thanks all for the welcome and thanks AlanD for the advice - seems to be the general concensus. Is it a matter of upgrading the HU to MFD3 or ?
Thanks in advance

I found aftermarket to be soo much better than OEM stuff when it comes to audio. I upgraded mine to an Alpine unit, difference was day and night even before installing the sub and amp, then once they were in, well, no comparison lol

Thanks for the info Alan - need to write an early letter to Santa

If / when you upgrade send me a PM, I found a good how to guide on the web on how to replace the HU. Also watch out for the airbag plug and DO NOT ! take it out (like I did) as you need VAGCOM to reset it as it wont reset itself because that would be faaaar too easy.

Good advice - I will leave it to the experts. I learned that just trying to remove the MFD2!!!
Thanks again
