Title: Skoda wheels
Post by: cranic on 23 January 2010, 17:53
I'm thinking of buying skoda wheels. 5x100 and et 42

Looking to fit them to my 1996 mk3 golf gti.

Will they fit straight on?

Cheers craig

Yes.

EDIT: Actually the ET is a bit high, are you sure they are 42?

EDIT2: The stock ET is 35-38 on all Skoda's, I'm taking it they aren't OEM?

If they've come off a Skoda and are OEM, they will fit without trouble. The tyres however may not.

Wheels are 16x7. Tyres will be 195/45/16?

right then josho,

FACTUAL information for the OP

Skoda
Model    Year    PCD    Offset    Bore
Fabia    00>    5x100    35 to 42    57.1
Felicia    94 to 01 4x100    35 to 42    57.1
Octavia    97>    5x100    35 to 42    57.1
Superb    02>    5x112    35 to 42    57.1

So they are more than likely ET 42 as they arent but a standard fitment .

Also to the OP

What is all the spec of your current wheels ?  Tyre size and offset

a good sight to see how much out you will be running different tyre sizes

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresiz2.html

main thing is with mk3s is that the ream beam DOESNT ALWAYS sit square in the rear arches,

They don't sound like OEM Skoda wheels to me.

I have no idea on the tyre front so I won't comment. I also have a feeling that ET42 is too high, so I wouldn't buy them just yet, there are a few wheel/tyre experts that will give you some advice soon.

Like I said if they are OEM, they'll fit, but 16x7 don't sound like stock wheels to me.

That must be right, because a couple of other websites claim ET on Skoda's to be 35-38! I thought it was 35-42 but as alloywheelguide.com said 35-38 I thought it would be good to mention it's a bit high.

Et42 will be fine, just watch the rears don't hit the shock.

They will 100% fit if they are 5x100, however they will be close to the coilover when you fit it, you may need a 3mm spacer.

Thanks for confirming, I thought this was the case.

You can just about run 3mm spacers with the stock nuts, just check they get 5 full turns on them which was recommended by the wheel guru's on E38 (just letting everyone know my sources, because it seems required of me).

std 15" gti alloys are 6.5x15 and et43
and the anni uses 7x16 et43 with 215/40 tyres but 195/45 are very close fitment wise
