Title: Nuts and Bolts for Front Strut Brace help
Post by: haf1zur on 23 January 2010, 12:27
Hi

Bought a strut brace for the front for my mk3 off a forum member

Anyone know where i can get the correct bolts and rivnuts from? or even what size they should be?

Any markings on the bolts would be of help

Thanks

id get them off rs componants but other car places do them, more race oriented generally, 8.8 bolts should be fine, dont know much about how strong rivnuts would be of wether ud be better off with just bolting it through although it is more effort

8.8 strength bolts will be fine for a strut brace...so will Rivnuts - but getting them set can be a pain without the tool - Memfast make a good tool for setting them, but it probably not worth buying to fit 6/8 Rivnuts for a strut brace...maybe easier drilling the strut tops?
M8 are porobably a safe bet.

There is plenty of room if you have coilovers...not sure there's too much room to drill and bolt through without removing the front suspension if you don't.
