Title: edition 30 gone today
Post by: andrewl on 22 January 2010, 23:09
hi sold my edition 30 today for a bmw 335i m sport.
the gti 30 is a fantsatic car and can not fault the car, easy to live with and never missed a beat. i would give it 10 out of 10.
car went to sycamore at Peterborough and whoever gets it will be missed by me.
my new car however is fantastic and the performance is great.

I'am thinking of doing the same but a 135i.i have an ed30 its been a great car but i fancy a rwd again. how do you rate the 335 engine? i tested a 130i but found it a bit gutless in the low to midrange.

hi

didnt test a 330 but the 335 makes my edition 30 feel slow. The engine sound awesome and never feels strained and has absolutely no lag. Same as you wanted a rear wheel drive car and so far after three days i cant fault the car. Car is averaging about 25mpg but to be honest im not really bothered as the sound is worth everything.
dont want to slag the gti but the bmw is differant class.

Because you werent buying a car from them is why they wernt interested. No money in it for them.Or if they did it would of been an offer that you would of been disgusted with.

did want a sirocco but the delivery dates are useless went to 4 dealers and best date was may 2010. And they woldnt give me a price for my car as they couldnt predict what price it would be in May. They also said as the new R and GTI are now selling the edition 30  prices are falling. As stated its easy to advertise the car for £19000 but try selling it to a private buyer who is willing to pay that sort of money. Quite a lot of white ones on the market in piston heads/autotrader but there having a laugh asking 18/19k, your just not going to sell it.
im quite happy with the trade in my 335i m sport has only done 2300 miles and is 11 months old and cost 24995. considering the new golf R is touching 30K with some overpriced extras ive got a bargain.
edition 30 as stated is an excellent car and will be missed.

I've done exactly the same. As much as I hate to say it, if the local VW stealer had done his stuff I would be in a Mk6. But as it is, he showed very little interest and I'm now in a late 09 320d m sport, with the right toys for just under £22k. Alright not as fun, but the cars 5 months old, done 4k and cost £33k new list price. With my mileage going throught the roof at the moment, I'm not complaining at 60mpg compared to my Mk5s 25mpg.

Quality and price compared to the Golf don't match and unless the VW Dealers start letting you test drive the MDs Wifes Car - sorry demo - then people will move out of the brand.

agree mate didnt want to move out of the brand but was offered a demo with some overpriced extras, a diesel sirocco with 19" alloys for £26900. i understand there trying to keep the car as a neiche model but all there doing by massive waiting and overpricing the cars is driving people away. any way my sport would demolish a edition 30 it wouldnt see which way it had gone.

Unless of course it was snowing!
Drove down through Belgium/Luxembourg into eastern France during the worst of the snow at Christmas. ED30 struggled through without too many issues despite no winter tyres. BMWs and Mercs abandoned all over the place! They struggled with even the most gentle incline.

Sorry, I know it's off topic, just realised on that journey that I would never buy rear wheel drive.
