Title: Gearbox swapability question.

My mate's gearbox has blown on his 96(?) TDi. He wants to know if the cable change are the same inside as the rod change. Can anyone shed some light on the subject please?

They arent the same inside, cable change have more of a rep for being strong, rod change are an ancient relic
