Well i first got with VW when a jetta tx arrived in @ work F reg in mint nick costing ?250.00.
This sadly burnt out on New Years Day!! I was well gutted but as i'd just bought some BBS RM alloys over christmas and the car was looking nice so i had to get a VW for my next car!
Luck had it that the following Monday a MK2 16v was traded in @ work, My luck was in!! Completely standard 5 door K reg in Alpine white. All for ?1000 of my money!! With about 100,000 on the clock. So a good start to find an unmolested example.
-
The car itself was in good overall condition just a couple of minus points.
The Rear boot lock was seized up and because the central locking didn't work this was my main concern. So i ordered the new parts and rebuilt the lock with new tumblers and springs. I used the car on a day to day basis on the standard wheels for a couple of weeks then i swapped the BBS RM alloys off the jetta onto the new car and it began to look loads better..
Next job was a swap of suspensin from the jetta onto the golf an awkward job as i dont have acess to ramps to work on so with the help of a good friend we began jacking both cars up swapping struts and springs over!! With this completed a drive in the car proved we had not got it quite right as it pulled to the left alot!!
So i needed the tracking and camber adjusting, done on the cheap along with a Passenger side cv boot that had given up the ghost and cracked making a mess of the inner alloy!!
That was more like it a car that went straight down the road i was happy!

Its about time i updated this!!!
I have had a few problems with this car lately due to some vandals who decided to smash my windscreen, i decided to have some paintwork done at the same time so i booked the car in for this. I had the car undersealed the roof painted and sunroof shut area also a new driversside roof trim and I had some attention to the inner sill on the drivers door and they were supposed to be sorting the rust bubbles next to the rear light units.
Upon collection of the car it had overspray on the wheels, light units and the outer sill mouldings, The bits in the boot didn't get done (forgot) the new moulding i had fitted has been ruined and fitted wrong and they hadn't fitted the sunroof deflector when i picked the car up!! Am in the middle of taking it back but need it so its gonna b after xmas!!
-
Update Jan 2005
Well the car is due back @ the bodyshop next monday for the fixing of the work i was due to have done b4 xmas! So fingers crossed it will be right this time!!
I am going to get my BBS RM alloys redone soon so i will be putting my RA's back on..... don't get me wrong they are a good wheel but they just don't look anywhere near what the RM does
Got a few problems occured recently namely a brokn headlamp and a boot that doesn't want to unlock without turning the key. I think that its the part that slides the rod left and right thats causing the problem so i'm off to get a new one next week to see if this does the trick!!
My serch for a inner panel trim ended when i finally got a mint one from volks apart (excellent service btw) I broke this ages ago and after finding out vw don't make them any longer i had been on the hunt for a second hand one for a while.
The only other thing that occured was when the isv bush split and caused the car to over rev to around 2000rpm the cause i think was the clip[ that holds the pipe that comes from the intake pipe to the isv had broken and this i assume put extra stress on the isv rubber bush and split it. Good job i had my mk1 16v off the road so i made a tempory loan to the 16v mk2!!
Happy New Year to anyone reading!!

Hi there i got my car going back to the bodyshop On Monday 10th Jan so ill let you know how i got on when its back!!
Will try and get some pictures onto here to show you!! :undecided:
-
 Cars been coming along well recently!!!!
I managed to get hold of rear electric windows and door mirrors which i had fitted a few weeks ago at prolek aes in lincoln and they did a good job fitting them into the car!! Am quite pleased as its not often you see this in a 5 door mk2.
Then after having a think i have purchased a Rally front end which got fitted two weeks ago and im pleased as its had a good response so far from most ppl ive spoken to!! Jus got to sort some of the wiring out on the loom as its not got the correct connectors from the back of the headlamp... just a minor problem.
Got a rivit fallen out of the passenger wheel arch trim and its catching on lock right as the car leans so im gonna need a new rivit in there when i get the chance!
-
I think ive spoken too soon!
Ive had fun and games for the past two days!!
My alternator belt decided to do a burnout on me and nearly f='#d my alternator! The alternator began to spark so i rapidly switched the car off!! Once it had cooled down it started like new??? Then this morning the same thing but i turned it of straight away so i thought best to invest in a pair of belts both PAS and the alternator one!! A lad i work with stayed after work to do the job!"! Cuts the PAS belt as it was tight fits the alternator belt hen goes to fit the new PAS belt to find it was too big!! So @ 5.30 im on the way to Heron @ Newark to fetch the correct belt!! Job sorted along with finding my elusive water leak ive had for a few weeks! The top rad hose has a slight leak which is temp repired untill tomorow!! Also noticed i need to get the rear wheel bearings adjusted as there is some play in them!! Also front wishbone bushes need replacing so ive got some work to do in the near future!!
N e way its all good fun"!"1
Hope its not to hard to get sorted!!
-
 What fun this car can be!!
Got a clutch thats all but had it this week its been getting worse as the week goes on. Am having a new one fitted on monday so touch wood it will hold off and stay working till then!
-
:undecided: Well its not bin a great time as im gonna take my car off the road soon as the suspension has began to knock! And after having the clutch fitted the car pulls left and the steering wheel is on the piss..... so untill i get it all spot on its gonna sit @ work till one of the lazy assed technitions fixes it before any damage gets done. I just bought a run around as a tempory mesure till it all gets fixed, Oh and i also thought it would be a good time to put a leather steering wheel on Genuine vw of course and fit new lowered suspension... ps for any of you there with any reccomondations on what kit to fit or what not to fit a PM would be appreciated ( the car will be on BBS RM Alloys and i want a 35-35 poss 40 mm drop) Thanks in advance!!
-
Have taken this car to have some suspension work done on it! And an oil leak to be looked into (headgasket gone) So i decided to go better and bought a G60 from a corrado (was put in a golf had 8v brakes on it... total madness) The engine bay is due for a full shot blast and respray while the engine is getting all new gaskets allround then fitting into my nice clean engine bay!! I can't wait to see the result!! I'm gonna get it to jabba sport 4 a stage 4 charger rebuild and a 68mm pulley and chip. and a nice new filter!
Work also carried out recently to the car has been boot carpets that ive fitted in to replace the horrible foam ones that were in there.
Ive got a brand new leather steering wheel (genuine vw of course) New suspension bushes a steering rack gaitor which was split.
Plans coming up are a little bit of paintwork which is owed to me from a local bodyshop
Full undersealing and some painting to the rear hatch also some work in the boot as its slightly rusting needs fixing! Also i need to swap seat covers over as the outer base has slightly cracked so to preserve it im gonna use the passenger base as the new drivers base!!
I think i will have the car back in a couple of weeks but its currently got a naked engine bay!!!
-
23/5/2005!
My car is engineless now and ready to go to the bodyshop on wednesday!
Ive had the G60 engine stripped down to reveal a few teething problems but nothing serious!!
Needs a new sump as its a bit battered, a new Charger pulley, cambelt cover, oil splash gaurd in the head, crank seal gearbox side, needs a new clutch ( i was putting one of these in anyhow) and the flywheel is going to be reskimmed as its had some hammer!!
Apart from that all the valves are straight bonus i was glad when i was told that its all ok!
And looks in fairly good nick overall.. Will keep ya posted
Only trouble so far being the oil splash gaurd is on VAG backorder along with one of the throttle gaskets!! Ya can't win all the time!!
-
The paint work has been put back till next week"!"!
Also ordered are a new sump baffle and a rear engine mount which has gone Backordered typical!!
-
Well i am pleased with the progress so far!! The car is now @ the Body shop!! Went today on a trailer!!
The engine has been rebuilt and ready to go into the car once its back and painted!
-
Update 2nd July
The engine has been fitted while ive been away on holiday! Engine bay has been painted a Top job i'm told!! Have hit a snag with the intercooler as the one i got is shot and in need of replacement!!
If anyone knows where i can get one from plz get in touch!!
-
 My car has been broken into where i'm having the engine fitted.. Broke the passenger window and by the looks of it have taken the front from the radio and thats about it.. Vandels im gutted
-
I have ordered a full golf g60 intercooler pipe set up so i can get an intercooler set up infront of the radiator, i also ordered a vw g60 radiator and the fan cowl to go with it! Its gonna cost a fortune but will be very much worth it in the long run with cooler oil temps over the corrado intercooler set up.
As for my break in i have ordered a new head unit and got new window seals just in need of a roof moulding and two mint peices of glass, I am glad the gargae are paying as the head unit was 160 on its own!! Mind i think it might be an idea to take it of the price of the work!!
-
I have nearly got all of the intercooler pipes now so things wont be far away from being finished! Costing alot of money but all should be worth it in the end!
-
16th July 2005
I am still awaiting an intercooler pipe for my project and also the intercooler i have ordered main dealer.
The car is having new ignition leads magnecor ones along with a new dizzy cap and rotor arm. Its so close to finished now. I keep meaning to take some pictures and get them onto here but not had chance to get up to look at the car. Still looking for some door glass to put back into the car hoping someone will find what im after soon. Touch wood it will be ready to take with me to edition 38 got to get some paint done aswell yet!!
-
2nd Aug 2005
Finally after a quick call to jabba sport i have managed to find a quick way of getting the car back rather than wait for vw to send me a genuine one!
Jabba reckon's about £80 ish for an alloy pipe but it would have to be made up! So touch wood by the end of the week i shall have the final part needed, And with more luck i will get it back next week!!
-
My intercooler pipe should be arriving shortly friday or saturday and fingers crossed the car will be back in use next week which will be just in time for the newark meet!
-
 The car has its front end back on now and its running with a few minor adjustments to be made here and there to get it sorted out, had a change of plan as im going to be keeping it off the road until spring next year in the mean time it will have the RM alloys refurbished 4 new doors 2 wings new front bumper new arches and side sills a scuttle panel and undersealing done basically get it ready for showing it next year like new. Oh and a supercharger rebuild in there. with g60 brake set up! Keep meaning to get all my pics posted bt never get round to it
-
The car is nearly there just a few finishing touches needed and its in for a day in the garage on monday for this so not far off finished! Ordered a jabbasport induction kit with engine heat sheild- looks a fair peice of kit!! Need to have the exhaust sorted out when i get it back as ive ended up with a corrado zorst as a temp job till i chop and weld the cat out of it and match it to my seibring exhaust set up. Also my alarm needs rewiring to the car as its attached to the old 16v loom still!! Also a trip to the bodyshop is in store before its going back on the road. Think its best to take time rather than rush at it and get it wrong the longer the bodyshop has the car the better i think!
-
About finished so i'm told by the garage did have a problem with reluctence to rev up but thats sorted aparently now!!
-
The engine is all running now just has just been sent for an MOT failed on a few minor things which are being fixed shortly things are still going nicely in the right direction so should be done soon! Oh and im gettin a full wheel alignment and a nice new Leather steering wheel VW of course!!
-
I have the car back now i collected it on friday. Do have a few problems left to sort out but overall the engine is running very sweet! Pics soon of the work carried out!

Been mounths in the making of this so far need to do some tidying up in the engine bay and needs the wheels refurbing and an estimated 1000 worth of paintwork shall keep ya posted and updated The plan is to have it all done for showing next summer
-
Car has gone for work on the electrics today!
Staying there untill the alarm has been refitted to the new loom
And the following!!
Elec mirrors work
rear wiper motor works
D/S/R elec window switch connector - replace with new connector block as old one broken
Remove dash speaker wires
Check for drain on battery
-
Now the electrics have all been tidied up nicely and everything works how it should do! Have it booked in in just over a weeks time to have my seibring exhaust matched up to the rest and remove the catalyst. Also im having some work done as the gear changes are not very smooth and then set it all up properly!
-
Had the car down at Volkskraft to have a few minor problems fixed including
A loose steering coloum - incorrect bolts fitted
Gear change wouldn't spring to the centre properly - adjusted accordingly.
A top job again and the car was also droppped of at home when it was done    Great news when i was going on holiday that week and didn't have alot of spare time to collect the car!!
I still need to get the exhaust fitted and set the engine up correctly and also the MFA isn't working along with the temp sensor not working so i shall be booking it in shortly to have that done
-
Car's booked in Tuesday 29th 4 the cat removal and fitting the sebring exhaust back on the car! End of the week its going for a litte tlc down the bodyshop!!!
-
 All sorted wonderful job again done by Volkskraft, Going back for a check after xmas for the sluggish pickup The cars not been running right since i got the engine fitted, Not too worried as i'm not using the car for a while yet.
Got a new D/S/R electric window moter to fit 2mo as mine seized up. Lucky find at a LOCAL scrap yard. Thought i'd have a nightmare getting one.
Off to a bodyshop for some paintwork rectification before xmas and undersealing hope to get a good job done second time around!!
-
Hey ya all
Was gonna sell up on the golf but decided against it
Down at a local bodyshop for some paintwork to finish things off!"!"
Been into a new project with a MK1 Gti 16v been slowly gathering all the needed parts and im nearly there
Cars going to Volkskraft shortly to have the paintwork undertaken then ill get it back to put all my nice bits and bobs in it!! Got the most awesome seats literally like new no fade or wear to be seen anywhere should look sorted when its done!!
-
Update still waiting for the Mk 2 back from the bodyshop should be next friday im now informed!!
Took my Mk1 Golf down to Volkskraft today while its in it's having the old servo & master cylinder from my Mk2 gti fitted in a hope to improve the brakes!! ]
-
Hey ya all been a while! Just in the process of getting my G60 on the road shall be sprucing it up over the weekend and seeing if anything needs doing! Had the paintwork sorted out and its looking loads better now! As for the Mk1 ive got that back and its going through a refit of all the parts ive taken off. I had seats referbed abd now look amazing can't wait till it's all back together!
-
Been a hectic few months now & been changing jobs & home so the cars have suffered for this! Been using my jetta 16v for a while but its just fried the ignition switch at the weekend :undecided: rather annoying. The G60 had a leak through the bulkhead which i have yet to sort out been so hectic it's just been at my parents house! Gonna be working on it over the coming months along with my Mk1 16v due to get this painted halfway through november!
-
Plans changed with moving & i'm currently using the jetta with plans to sell the car in the new year! Have done extensive resoration work to the car recently & it's starting to look a very nice old 16v! As for the Gold G60 i'll be getting this on the road next year once i've sold the Jetta & 309! Have been pressured into selling up (gutted) i suppose i can only drive one at a time!
-
Thought i best update my project!
Recent developments have seen a lot of medial work done & the car is currently with Volkskraft for MOT work!
Problems were really nice & easy to fix like
Beam pattern
PAS resevoir location insecure
Indicator - bad connection
Adjust rear handbrake
Brake flexi twisted
Only downside being the fuel filter casing was cracked so i've had to get some new hoses to replace the corroded pipework under the car!
When i get her back i'll be left to put the interior back in as the leaks are all fixed now! & a major valet is needed!! Best get my polish out me thinks!
Hoping to pick the car up with MOT @ the weekend!
-
Update 2nd June 2007
MOT Carried out needed a load of work as it's been stood for a while now... Gettin my situation slowly sorted out & the 309 Goodwood will be up for sale soon.
Car needed PAS resevoir securing
Handbrake adjusting
Fuel pump housing replacing (leak) + fitted all new hoses from VAG too!
Ind bulb bad connection
Also had a leak so the interior is out & i located a few areas we were lettin in the water. Door membranes & a gromit in the bulkhead bein the main issue.
All addressed & now all i need to do to get the car back onto the road is to put the interior back into place! A job to do when i'm back at my parents house in two weeks time (where the car is kept)
Looking forward to driving the car will be sept @ the earliest i think though....
-
Finally have this car MOT & back on the road! Been garaged for a long long time!
