Title: cat
Post by: Adam-D on 24 October 2004, 09:08
i think my golf has a cat

now it was registered in 1990 so i dont really need it but to be sure

my system goes front box,-centre box,-what looks to be a cat, -back box.

is this right for a 1.8 16v?

If you have one it's after market because cats became compulsory on new cars from 1992 I believe, link to DoT below -

its not a cat. no 16v's have CAT's

the silencer on the downpipe isnt even restrictive in any way. its just a simple way of making two pipes go into one ;)

if you want a decent system. go for the mongoose system. cracking build quality and a real good system, and sensible price also!

stay away from Magnex, they re-circulate the gases in the silencers in order to keep noise levels down. they are more restrictive than VAG OE items
