Ive just had my car serviced at a dealership . When it went in the coolant level was just below the min level when cold , it had seemed to go down slowly over the year since my last service . I popped the bonnet today and the dealers have filled to the maximum line. , question is .
1 Is a slight coolant loss normal over a long period of time , is it "finding its level"
2 Should the dealer have topped it up and would they notifiy me if there was a leak

I checked mine at the weekend & mine had gone down a little toped up with 'neat' g12. System is sealed so should not really loose any but a few on here & other sites have had a slight drop with the cold weather (first time mine has gone down) i'm going to keep an eye on it to see how it goes.

. . . However, just a note of caution, on some cars, some cooling systems will actually find their own level, and this may actually be below the minimum. By all means, top it up with the correct coolant additive mix to the max level, but then monitor it over a week or so. If it progressively drops a little each day, but then appears to stabilise at a certain level - then just leave it at that - even if it is below the minimum. If it completely empties the expansion bottle, then obviously further investigation is required.
