Title: Rattling heat shield replacement

Hi guys,
Golf 8v GTi 96 owner.

My heat shield is rattling like a good'en.  Are they easy to replace?  I have read on here that people have removed them completely.  I would rather have it there, as I am sure it is there for a reason!!

could always have it spot welded back into place..

If it's the clips that hold it on then vw sell new one's for pennies...but if the shield has rotted then it's of time or welding (although they don't seem to stay welded long!)

Mine also rattles which is especially annoying in the summer when I have the windows down an can hear it more.

I've kind of got used to it although it seems to be getting a bit better recently. Maybe its rusting away  :laugh:
