Just gonna order a miltek for my TDI 150 (superchipped to 190bhp)
needs to be quiet so wanna get the resonated,Cat back
Views on them please,
im a magnex/mongoose person but magnex dont done and mongoose are loud
-
Steve has the non-resonated version - sounds good
Its not loud at all until you push on past 2.5k rpm
Myself i got Pro-speed in Cardiff to put together a system though i got the Milltek downpipe - love it! Bit far from you though lol
-
I have a full turbo back Milltek (Decat) and I love it.
As Rhys said sounds OEM till you boot it then it gives off a nice noise not too loud and doesn't sound like a tractor
-
got the twin milltek fitted resonated owls like beast at 3000 revs otherwise u cant tell bets buy for me however unless ure gettign the downpipe i seriously wouldnt bother
-
I also get a bit more turbo noise now. Its amazing
-
go for the non res turbo back system, as said its quite below 3k, you get a owl like sound from the decat when you let off the accelerator and sounds nice when booting it
-
can i see some pics please guys
any video links of noise would be good, last time i heard a miltek i was a little disapointed, although that said it wasnt on a mk 4. really wish Magnex were still on the go.. and mongoose is just too loud (but they are king)
iv been quoted 440 fitted inc VAt at well lane turbo centre batley for the CAT back resonated, slightly less for non resonated (they did my superchip remap)
Just to note, i need to keep this car almost stock, quiet and legal, i.e want to keep the cat etc
car is already pushing close to 200bhp, its quite quick, so im ok with its performance.

nice mate
prefere to see the tails tho personally, iv got the valance with cut out, you have the "descreet" tails
-
cant find any pics which show the exhaust but Ive got the 4mo style
here's a vid but you cant really here it due to the rollers
(http://vid205.photobucket.com/albums/bb74/kryptik_2010/th_DSCF3196.jpg) (http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/bb74/kryptik_2010/?action=view¤t=DSCF3196.flv)
also you wont get much performance from a cat back its the decat which improves it.
and a decat is legal on a diesel as they only smoke test them at mot

I was wondering what to do with my exhaust in the future but was worried about the emmisions on the MOT so this is very good!
-
they only smoke test them, they dont test for emissions. mine passed last november and Rhyso's passed a few weeks ago both with no problems
-
Steve_PD
is this 1005 true matey, if so ill grab the decat while im at it
-
yes, have a search on ukmivs. Rhyso and Adam will also confirm this. the decat will give the biggest gains to a diesel

Nope me and Rhyso lost BHP from a decat.
-
adam give more details on this matey
how much loss??
what does it drive like decat

-
but gained average bhp  may aswell put your standard exhaust back on then

Steve is correct better spooling up, longer BHP and torque curve. Sound is amazing drives fine better pick up.
-
hmmm what to do.... :undecided:
-
Turbo back exhaust thats what to do.
-
You say you have been quoted £440?
R-Tech will do it cheaper -
CAT-BACK - Resonated with 4-Motion Tail Pipes = £349 fitted
then
LARGE-BORE DOWNPIPE & Decat = £165 fitted
£514 and your a happy boy. They may even stick you on the dyno if you supply some biscuits.
-
Hi mate I got a full turbo back decat Miltek with large bore downpipe yesterday and ......... it is awesome mate non res not too loud at all great when booting it turbo spolls up quicker even my mpg has improved about 5 mpg ( when ur not listening to that sweet sound) go for it!!
-
Hi lads sorry for jumping on the band wagon but i have just ordered a miltek largebore down pipe for my pd150. Does anyone know if this will fit my std exhaust system or will i need extra pipe to do so?
kind regards
simon...
-
Turbo back is THE only option on a diesel
The quote you've had though is   Altogether I've paid £465 for a COMPLETE system FITTED
As Steve has said mine passed its MOT 3 weeks ago and all the bloke commented on was 'you've done some work to that haven't you' :smug: He noticed the decat too but it still passed the smoke test

It will fit but you need an adaptor sleeve from Jetex to make it fit as Milltek don't produce an adaptor

adam iwas quoted sililar to your price for descreet tails
anyhow would rather use well lane as its on my doorstep so no travel costs, plus well lane mapped the car so im happy for them to deal with this too.
im gonna call my mate at the dealer and ask about the mot thing just to make sure
next question,iv got my v6 valance (52 quid from dealer) here, how easy to remove old one and fit the new one?
not looked at the car yet

I'd ask for a better price then
Look on ukmkivs if you're unsure about diesel's passing MOT withou the cat's - 90% of them run without one and have NO PROBLEM at all; 100%!! It will pass!!
Rear valence is two screws in each arch and the just grip and rip - the clips are in fairly tight mind so take a bit of care. Best to start one end and work your way around
-
will be asking for a better price fort sure
love the "grip and rip" saying hahaha
right, just called my mate at the dealer, they do actually check the diesels for emmisions, as do Well lane and BHP centre. he said some pass some dont...you take your chances.
i aint realy up for that so prob just gonna go cat back, im not sure how long ill have this car anyhow as iv been looking atother stuff to upgrade to at some point, so i think its gonna be cat back.......but ill see , just waiting for well lane to call me back as i wanna speak to the girl i did yesterday (spoke to that is )

They test for smoke for sure - mine wasn't tested for emissions :undecided: If its remapped properly then it will pass  for the sake of £150 its well worth it otherwise IMO the catback on its own is not worth the money

rhyso you said that i would need a jetex adapter sleeve for my largebore down pipe.
Would you know wot size of pipe i would need to get? (eg 3inch 4inch)
do you think powerflow could make one up for me or would i have to get a jetex one?
kind regards
simon....

Powerflow may well be able to make you one - best thing to do is ask them

Got the V6 Valance on the car now, perfect fit (had to modify the clips a little)
they are a better shape than the standard valance, more mean looking which i like
removed the bit of metal that shows through the exhaust cutout using the Air Saw, done it so theirs half the braket still their incase i ever need to revert back to standard :-), got a perfect cut too so it looks factory
sealed it and painted it
ready for the miltek now next thursaday

paid 515 for mine and as ever well lane have done a perfect job with a absolute perfect fit which is why i was happy to pay that little more.. should not have horizontal play mate.... mine is super tight and perfect snug as a bug fit
looks fantastic, dont sound as good as my magnex or mongoose but im ok with that on this car.
happy with it, looks like its got decent build quality too, pics tomo after its cleaned :-)
-
You will have no problems come MOT time either mine had a reading of 0.6 on the smoke test machine (the maximum allowed is 3.0) which is a fast pass (only one acceleration run needed)
