Title: Mk2 tailgates

Are there any differences between normal mk2 tailgates and GTI ones other than the black stripe and roof spoiler? Just need to know as thinking of buying one from a mk2 driver.

Other than what you have already mentioed they are all the same.

Excellent, cheers. I'm guessing I can just rob the roof spoiler from my current GTI one and do the swap.

the spoiler is mounted to the glass so you need to swap that over as well

Ah that I did not realise. May have saved me a purchase there then - might be better off waiting for a GTI one.
