Hi guys ive got a smell of burning oil coiming though my vents when my car is hot after its been run been told at work could be a seal gone in the gearbox and oil leaking on the clutch what u guys think
-
Could be the rocker cover gasket leaking oil onto the exhaust or a blocked breather.
-
I have the same issue - I think it's very common.
I changed the oil breather pipe that comes out of the box on top of the rocker cover as it had split where it bends and also cleaned out the lower breather pipe with carb cleaner as it was full of crap but the smell is still there. I also have a small leak from the rocker cover gasket (N/S where it goes in a U shape) so I assume this is the source of the smell (although it wouldn't do any harm to clean your breather hoses out ayway).
Also whilst you're at it you might want to change the pollen filter as they're only £4 or so and mine was disgusting.

I had it when I first bought mine and the breather hose that runs down the from the rocker cover to the crankcase was split !!
-
my valve cover leaks tons all over the manifolds but doesnt really smell

It's a long shot, but this is what happened to me because I'm stupid.
But basically when I put oil into my engine (my piston rings are fecked so have to top up every couple of months) I don't use a funnel or anything to route the oil safely, I basically just use the bottle it comes in and usually end up spilling it before it goes into the engine. So because of this for a a week or so, that oil is getting hot and is coming through the air vents, which causes the smell.
As I said, it's a long shot but could be the issue.
