Title: Should i get a mk4 Golf 1.6 16v, 2000/2001?

Well I got a 106 atm and have 3 grand to spend on a new car, can't really decide what to get and I love the look of Golfs, thing is I heard the engines are to small for the size of the car and that the gearboxes are garbage so it has kind of put me off. Is it worth me getting one? I'm 19 so the highest litre car I can get is a roughly 1.6 due to insurance being high.

If it were me, I would try and keep that 106 till I was 20 / 21 and then get a nice car then with the 3 grand like a GTI or something like that.

Gearboexes are weak and the engine can stuggle, as Alan said run the 106 for a bit longer.
