Title: remapping N/A engine
Post by: luke on 16 January 2010, 12:33
has anyone remapped a n/a (naturally aspirated, no turbo/supercharger) engine?
if so how much power did you gain and can you notice the improvment?

Normally you'll gain a couple of bhp which isn't much at all but it can smooth the response of the throttle and improve economy. It's best done when you've already done other mods such as flowed heads and lairy cams.

can't really ask as i don't have a car yet, if i will have to mod the engine a bit to get the best out of the remap i think i will just forget it and wait till i can get one with a bigger engine.

Depends one the company. As Nick said give them a call and ask, most will charge for a remap.

Most don't hit you hard for it, always best to notify every mod you do though. Mine have not charged me for my golf.

Well, was with Greenlight. Policy has been cancelled with them for obvious reasons.

Everyone I got quotes off where the same, they where just cheapest.

Being young + remapped turbo car = fail

Im umming and arrring about taking the remap off in July when I get license back.

well by the time I've got the money for insurance i'll be 18, best leave mods for a bit then, not even sure whether to get coilovers yet or just look at springs.
